25. Hotpoint Fridge Freezers How to save money without really trying In this economy, money is tight and it’s hard to know what to cut out. Luckily, there are ways to save money without having to limit your enjoyment of life and there are a few listed below to help. 1. Don’t throw away food Most food items have a best before date on them, contrary to popular belief this does not mean the food is inedible after this date unless it specifically says ‘use by’. The BB date means the food might not taste it’s best after that date; bread may have gone stale, crisps may have gone soft and chocolate… is probably eaten before the BB date even comes around. There are a few items to look out for that can make you ill (eggs, meat, milk) but only after the use by date and even this can be averted by putting the food in the freezer. 2. Cut the utility bills If you live in a small household, switch to your utility company’s meter reading rate. The likelihood is that you’re using less gas, electricity and water than the typical family, which is what standard bills are based on. To save more, turn items off when you’re finished with them, don’t leave them on standby, have showers instead of baths and wrap up warm before putting the heating on. 3. Replace Energy Guzzling Appliances The EU energy label is fitted on all appliances to give consumers an idea of how much energy it takes to run. The scale goes from A+++ to G; G being the least efficient and costing more to run. Littlewoods currently has great deals on Hotpoint Fridge Freezers, all of which have at least an A rating. 4. Borrow Most books you’ll only read once, most films you’ll only watch once so you don’t need to buy them all. You can borrow books from the library within only a few weeks of them being released; most films can be rented from a local outlet for only a couple of pounds or online via LoveFilm or Netflix. It’ll save you a ton of money. ENDS Words: 349

How to save money without really trying

In this economy, money is tight and it’s hard to know what to cut out. Luckily, there are ways to save money without having to limit your enjoyment of life and there are a few listed below to help.

1. Don’t throw away foodMost food items have a best before date on them, contrary to popular belief this does not mean the food is inedible after this date unless it specifically says ‘use by’.

2. Cut the utility billsIf you live in a small household, switch to your utility company’s meter reading rate. The likelihood is that you’re using less gas, electricity and water than the typical family, which is what standard bills are based on. To save more, turn items off when you’re finished with them, don’t leave them on standby, have showers instead of baths and wrap up warm before putting the heating on.

3. Replace Energy Guzzling AppliancesThe EU energy label is fitted on all appliances to give consumers an idea of how much energy it takes to run. The scale goes from A+++ to G; G being the least efficient and costing more to run. Littlewoods currently has great deals on Hotpoint Fridge Freezers, all of which have at least an A rating.

4. BorrowMost books you’ll only read once, most films you’ll only watch once so you don’t need to buy them all.
