How to Recover from Spring Break
Written on March 15, 2011 by SherRon Marcek
Spring break might been just what you needed to reduce your college stress and let go a little. You spent
your days in the sun and your nights at the bars. You had a great time but now you’re back home with a
sunburn, an extra 5 lbs, tired, and broke. Here are our best tips for getting back to college after one hell
of a spring break:
Your Skin
Chances are your skin has been hiding all winter only to be thrust into the spotlight for one long, sunny
weekend. This harsh change left your skin burnt and damaged. It is time to invest in some aloe vera.
You can pick up some aloe vera lotion at your local
drug store. Apply it to your skin 2-3 times a day.
This will help your skin heal faster and it will
reduce the amount that you peel.
Your Body
A week of alcohol and eating out can be rough on
anyone. The best way to recover is to return to
eating real whole foods and drink a lot of water.
Get rid of all the processed food you have around
and go back to fruits, vegetables, whole grains and
lean protein. Your body has been starved of vital nutrients for days now and you need to give it a chance
to catch up. Look for foods high in potassium, such as kiwi, banana, and potatos, as they will really help
your body repair itself.
Get to chugging the water. This is probably the thing that will get you feeling back to normal before
anything else will. This will hydrate your skin, help you recover from that hangover, reduce bloat, and
sleep better. Drink a minimum of 64 oz but don’t hesitate to go above and beyond that if you need it.
Your Brain
Along with drinking water, your brain needs sleep to function. Go to bed every night around the same
time and wake up around the same time. Yes, even on the weekend. Just a few days of doing this will
help you regulate your sleep schedule and get you back on track. For more good reasons to get plenty of

Your Bank
Don’t avoid your finances just because it might be worse than you thought. Log on to your bank account
and evaluate the damage. Check your statements to make sure all charges are correct and then get back
to budgeting. You might have to cut out drinks with friends or lunch dates for the next few weeks. That
will also give you time to pick up an extra shift at work or get those overtime hours.
