HOW TO HANDLE A PROBLEM: “Three reasons problems are inevitable; first, we live in a world of growing complexity and diversity; second, we interact with people; and third, we cannot control all the situation we face.” -John C. Maxwell When you take a problem to someone: (you need to act and speak calm and collected / poker face) E.A.S.Y. Script: (how to get what you want) E - Express how you feel (in four words or less, then pause) – “I feel frustrated”, “I feel mislead”, “I feel embarrass”, A - Address the facts (provable documented facts) - S - Say what you want (make it measurable) - Y - Yes or No Question (“Are you the one who can make this happen”) If No – “Who would be able make this happen?” (and repeat script) When a problem comes to you: (if any of these points are lacking or missing there is not a problem) 1. Open with “How may I be help to you?” (Be pleasant and sincere) 2. “What are you hoping will be the result?” (They need to be clear about their goal and their needs to be measurable) 3. “What are the documented facts?” (The facts have to be provable)
