How to get a job!Useful tips on creating an effective resume working for you!
Design
Keep it simple. There should be no fancy things like smiley
faces, hearts, etc. The simplest it looks, the
better. It has to be reader-friendly, which means no overloading with heavy
paragraphs. There should be neither glitter
nor perfume on it (if you remember Legally Blond
movie). If you are blond, no offense.
Make sure there are keywords and power words.
It has to be easy to read but it has to show how intelligent you
are. Knowing foreign languages, having a driving license, second university
degree or being a third-class sportsman will work for you.
Tips on how to put information into your resume Try for all the points of your resume
to be written down in one page. Even though some might say it does
not matter but imagine yourself in the shoes of an employer.
They do not need novels. They need to see who you are and what you are
capable of. No photos of your friends and pets
are required. Lately it has become important to include your photo but nothing fancy, just so your face was seen like on your identification card.
Focus on your skills, achievements, all the job
experience you had from the very first job.
It does not mean how long you worked for this or that
company, it is an experience. Include the courses you have
been through and certificates you got afterwards because
those are essential skills, which make you different from many other people looking for a job.
Anything will do
Make sure there are no huge time gaps between your job
experiences. Even though there are any, try
to make them shorter just so there was no suspicion of you to spend all that time home
doing nothing.
Volunteering job is a job too. It is also a job experience.
Plus it tells a lot about you as a person and it speaks good of
you. You do not need to put in any
personal information though except for your name and
contact information.
Recommendations
Sometimes we are asked whether there are any
authorities, people who could recommend us so we got the
position. Those authorities might be your onetime bosses. See, it is another reason why you need to stay in good relationships
with them.
Be sure there are no typos in your resume otherwise it will
look unprofessional. In addition, you need to have a
few copies of it printed. In spite of sending it through
E-mail, you have to have it with you going for a job interview so
it was in front of employer`s eyes.
One more thing
Avoid age, race or religion discrimination in your resume.
The information you include needs to be relevant otherwise
it will go to no pile.
Do not lie in the resume. The truth will be revealed anyway unless you are genius capable of learning new things
you put into your resume within short period of time.
Good luck to you on the way to the job of your dream!
