How to do a Photomontage in Photoshop You can create many different images using the technique below, it’s down to your creative vision and what you want to do. Not all images will work together and more than two images can be used to create one final image. Firstly open Photoshop (there is an icon on the desktop for it) and when you get the option Organise or Edit, choose Edit. 1. Open all the images you want to use (for this image it will just be two) and then select the main image. You need to select Window on the top tool bar and select Undo History – a box will appear in the bottom right hand corner. This will show you each step you do and if you go wrong you can go back. 2. Double click on the small image in the Layer box on the right hand side, rename the layer and press OK.

How to do a Photomontage in Photoshop

You can create many different images using the technique below, it’s down to your creative vision and what you

want to do. Not all images will work together and more than two images can be used to create one final image.

Firstly open Photoshop (there is an icon on the desktop for it) and when you get the option Organise or Edit,

choose Edit.

1. Open all the images you want to use (for this image it will just be two) and then select the main image. You

need to select Window on the top tool bar and select Undo History – a box will appear in the bottom right

hand corner. This will show you each step you do and if you go wrong you can go back.

2. Double click on the small image in the Layer box on the right hand side, rename the layer and press OK.

3. Select your other image from the small image at the bottom and drag it onto your main image.

4. Once the image is placed on top of original image, enlarge or decrease the second image if needed. by

selecting a corner and dragging it in or out to the required size and move the image so it covers what you

wish it to. (You can adjust this again later if needed). Then press the enter key on the keyboard.

5. In the Layers box on the right hand side select the top small image (the one you have just been positioning,

in this example it is the flowers) and drag it so it will be below the other layer and you will now no longer be

able to see this image.

6. Now select the top image in the Layers box on the right hand side (when a layer is selected the box will be

dark grey). Go to the left hand tool bar and select the Magic Wand tool, using the Magic Wand tool select

the part you don’t want in your final image (in this image it is the white sky), if not all of it gets selected this

can be corrected later or at the top you can change the tolerance so it will select more or less of what you

want it to.

7. Now go to the top tool bar select Layer – Layer Mask – Hide Selection

8. Make sure the layer mask is selected on the right hand side and select the paintbrush on the left hand side

tool bar and using either the black or white paint swatches make sure all the edges are smooth; for example

in the image below all the original white sky needed to be taken away and the top of the buildings fully

intact.

Black paint swatch = paints the bottom image in

White paint swatch = paints the top image in
