How to create a blog

Introduction

What is a blog ? How can it be used in the

classroom? Create your own blog.

Definition: Blog

A blog is, literally, a “log” of the web, - a website where you write texts on an ongoing basis.

New entries appear at the top, so your visitors can read what is new.

“online diary”. If they want they can comment on

it or send you an e-mail.

What makes a blog different from a website? You don’t need to know the code

usually used to create a website. It can be set up in minutes online. It is easy to update as new entries

appear at the top of the page with a time and date.

How can it be used in the classroom? Report back on school trips. Use blogs as a lesson starter. Weblog projects to link with other

schools. Record of classroom activities (e.g.

homework). Helps to keep parents informed. Write dossier texts.

Example: Tasha’s blog

Pupils should use pseudonyms to cover their identity.

Option: change design, background and fonts of the blogs.

Picture and sound files can be added.
