Becoming a RefereeTo become a referee you need to be at least 14 years old and a resident of the UK You need to take a Basic Referee Course Then referee a minimum of six 9v9 or 11v11 a side games with offside rules applying
Course (5 Modules)Module 1 – introduction into refereeing Module 2 – Application of law (Safeguarding also to be done at this time)Module 3 – Examination Module 4 – Referee six gamesModule 5 – In service training
How to enroll…You need to contact your Local FA via the website. If you need help getting hold of details, please contact a member of Match Official ZoneThe course currently costs around £130, however this does include your kit
FAQ…Is there any help once you have passed the course?
You will get allocated a referee mentor who will have experience and will guide you to become a better referee.
Do you get paid for refereeing?Most games you will get a match fee. The match fee will change according to the league. Most leagues pay around £20 per game.
