How did Nintendo Start?First off, I’m NOT trying to show any bias towards

Nintendo, I love Microsoft too!Nintendo started as a playing card company, and

made cards for a playing card game, called “Hanafuda”, still played today in Japan.

Nintendo failed, so they went to toys. They made many fun toys for children. Again, they failed, and quick too.

Later they went to video games in the early 80’s for an unknown reason. They are still making video games today. They made some of the most popular game series.

Video Game Console Timeline Now, I present to you… A timeline of video

game consoles that changed video game history. Lets get started!

Magnavox Odyssey-1972This is the first video game console ever. It

was made by the company Magnavox. Popular game: Space Invaders

Atari 2600-1977This was made by Atari Inc. This console was

VERY important for video game history, without it, we may not have what we have today. Popular games: Pong, Pitfall

Game & Watch 1982-1997The Game & Watch was the first handheld,

and Nintendo’s first handheld as well. Also when they wanted to make a new game, they had to completely rebuild the handheld, so new game=new handheld. Popular games: Ball, Octopus, Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros.

Nintendo Entertainment System-1983This was BIG for Nintendo. They nicknamed

this console the NES. Popular games: Super Mario Bros 1, 2, and 3, The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, and Tetris

Super Nintendo Entertainment System-1990This was made by Nintendo as an update to

the NES. This console was nicknamed SNES. Popular games: Super Mario All Stars, Super Mario World, Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past

Playstation-1994This system was made by Sony. This console

was made into a handheld. The PSP (Playstation Portable). Popular games: Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy X

Nintendo 64-1996This system was made by Nintendo, as an

update to the SNES. This was nicknamed the N64. It was also the first console to support 3D graphics. Popular games: Super Mario 64, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Super Smash Bros

Gamecube-2001This Nintendo console was a success, but had

some failed games. This had sharp 3D graphics. Popular games: Luigi’s Mansion, Super Mario Sunshine, Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door, Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker

Xbox-2001This was a major video game console for

Microsoft, as it was there first. Popular games: Halo 2, Call of Duty, Guitar Hero 2

Playstation 2-2000The Playstation 2 was an upgrade to the first

Playstation, released 4 years before it. It was abbreviated the PS2 Popular games: Gradius V, Shadow the Hedgehog, Crash Bandicoot

Xbox 360-2005,2010This console is an update to the first Xbox.

Made by Microsoft. The 2005 model was just an Xbox 360, the 2010 model was more light-weight and more slim. Popular games: Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Just Dance 4, Halo 4, Assassin's Creed 3

Playstation 3 2006,2009,2012This was yet another update to the previous

Playstation. This was nicknamed the PS3 (how creative). The 2006 model was the original model, the 2009 model was a little slimmer, called the Playstation 3 Slim, and the 2012 model was even slimmer than the slim model, called the Playstation 3 SuperSlim. Popular games: Flower, Lego Star Wars: Episode IV, NBA 2K12

Wii-2006This was the first console that had a separate

remote that picked up your movement. This was huge for video game history. This was a Nintendo console. Popular game: Wii Sports, Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Sonic Colors.

3DS-2011,2012This handheld changed video games forever.

This was the first video game console/handheld to support true 3D graphics WITHOUT 3D glasses. The 2011 model is the original model, the 2012 model had a slightly larger screen. This was big for Nintendo’s popularity. Popular games: Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time 3D, New Super Mario Bros 2, Raymin Origins.

Wii U-2012The Wii U was the most recent console. Most

Microsoft fans think it was a simple upgrade to the Wii. Trust me. It’s not. It has better graphics, and has a new whole handheld like thing with it with a touch screen. Popular games: New Super Mario Bros. U, ZombiU, Nintendo Land, Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of 2, Pikmin 3, Raymin Legends.

End of Timeline

The Failed Virtual Boy-1995This was the worst Nintendo console. Ever.

There were many sold, but many returned. This console had you look into this unexplainable thing, and supported 3d graphics without glasses. There are probably 5-20 in the USA now. There were only 23 games in the USA, and 1 popular, that game was Mario Tennis.
