A New House of Fairy Tales Hans Christian Andersen lives. And so is told by those who have followed his soft wooden steps into the Room-to-room Promenade, along the interwoven ways of the new HCA House of Fairy Tales in the City of Odense. Naturally guided by the pedestrian alleys, arrived to the flourishing garden, that smells of levande and fresh grass, wondering where the tram could get you, where the seashore is sounding, and how many urban afternoons would be needed to meet Hans Christian Andersen strangely exciting familiar world. The little street winds between the lanterns of the new house, links the old city traces and the fairy tales imaginery, and sews the strollers city, rejoining east and west, and bringing together the heritage from the past with structures and spaces suitable for tomorrow exigences. The ground windows of the old institution new building, allow the walker to pick into the underground life. The new HCA House of Fairy Tales heritages a centrical chacter from place, program and time, and houses it by building a nesty structure, in both means of architectural materiality, and cultural values communication. Gathering public services and visible activities all in one, offering a refurbrished House to the neighbourhood and to the Odense City Landscape, The cobblestoned balconies, show the inviting slope, gently letting into the bright hearty courtyard, safe from the southern cold winds: a sun well that brings natural light to the sheltered public services and gives access to the HCA Museum collective halls and rooms. In the inside the way hangs through, taking a deep look into the Grand Library to surprisingly discover the treasure of a well kept world patrimonie of books and facsimiles: A warm homy urban saloon that takes its place in the core of the Historical City disctrict. As a museum, proposes a bunch of possible itineraries, that vary in lenght and content. In their trajectory, the tours link the group social scale with the domestic dimension, allowing the visitor to take part in the events as casual audience, from a distance, inviting him to engage and propose, as he goes on with his chosen walk. Both the public and the private cohexist in the bossom of actual modern city life as a controversal duo, Andersen gently helping, as usual, to make it comprehensive, to articulate through illustration.
