How Long Have Hot Air Balloons Been Around 1783 was the first
recorded flight of a hot air balloon.
Accomplished by the Montgolfier brothers of France.
We actually believe that the first flights of hot air balloons were thousands of years earlier.
NASCA LINES The Lines were not discovered till about one
hundred years ago.
We believe that the natives of the time use primitive hot air balloons made out of animal hides
They use the balloons to elevate high enough to direct the people on the ground to create the design.
Why Does Hot Air Rise
The air inside the balloon has less gas particles and therefore is less dense.
The air inside is lighter, which in turn creates “ Lift” or an up thrust to carry the balloon and its cargo with it.
OTHER LIGHTER-THAN-AIR GASESHelium
Created from the distillation of petroleum Very expensive to make. Best Lighter-than-air lifting gas.
Hydrogen Created by separating water. (H20) Inexpensive to produce Not as good of a lifting gas as Helium.
