The over-cladding scheme has not onlyprovided a ‘new-look’ but transformedthe gateway to Rochdale town centre.The project formed part of a larger towncentre regeneration scheme and was part-funded by Rochdale Council. The Collegecontinues to receive very positivefeedback from our key partners, localcouncillors, public sector bodies, thesurrounding community and localbusinesses – it’s uplifted the surroundingarea and created a strong feel-good factoracross the College. Needless to say, theCollege are very pleased the strategicdecision to over-clad the campus hasdelivered the desired result and indeedsurpassed our expectations. The result isprimarily due to the huge team effortfrom the design team, contractor andCollege estates team, to make the schemesucceed. This project was delivered in-year, on time and budget, with minimuminterruption to business continuity and it’sa credit to the flexibility andprofessionalism of D&B facades.

PROJECT SCOPE

Insulated aluminium rainscreen

overcladding, single ply overlay roof and

replacement windows to two

interconnected multi-storey buildings, the

six storey Miles Ashworth Building and the

four storey Benjamin Rudman Building.

Additional works undertaken included

render to brickwork below ground floor sill

level on the Benjamin Rudman Building and

masonry paint treatment to exposed

concrete columns and beams to the ground

floor of the Miles Ashworth Building.
