Adult Choir Invited
To Perform in New York! The Distinguished Concerts International New York City
(DCINY) has announced that director Kelly Settlemyre and
the Spencer Baptist Church Choir have been invited to
participate in the New York Premiere performance of Joseph
Martin’s The Winter Rose on the DCINY Concert Series in
New York City. This performance at Carnegie Hall is
planned to take place on Monday, November 26, 2018. Our
musicians will join with other choristers to form the
Distinguished Concerts Singers International, a choir of
distinction. Conductor/Composer Joseph Martin will lead the
performance and will serve as the clinician for the residency.
Many Choir members need financial support to make this
trip possible! If you can help, please do so. We will be
letting you know of ways that you can support the choir, but
for now, mark this date and begin
praying for our preparations and
for our rehearsals as we continue
to share God’s love through song.
Dear Church Family,
Thank you doesn’t seem
enough for all the prayers, calls, food, and visits during my
Mother’s illness and death and my surgery. One of the
many blessings we have is the love and friendships here at
church. May God truly bless you all.
Love, Rick and Vicki Ledbetter
I want to thank my church family for all the calls,
cards, food and prayers, sent to me in my recent bout with
the flu. I love all of you and pray you may not get this flu
going around everywhere.
Love, Pat Tomblin

2018
Our children are preparing to go to camp this summer!
Our Spencer family has always been so generous in terms
of helping kids go to camps. There are several ways you
can help. First, attend our “camp lunches” once a month.
The children and youth who work at those events are the
ones who benefit from your donations. Second, consider a
donation to provide a scholarship to camp for one who
may be struggling to come up with the $280 it costs! No
amount is too big or too small. And third, pray even now
for the experience that these children will have when
attending camp this summer. There is no money value that
we can place on a child’s spiritual development. Pray that
God will speak, and our children will respond.
SUNDAYS in MARCH
As we approach Easter, we will
have special worship each Sunday.
On March 4, we will observe
Communion as we begin our focus on
the days leading up to Jesus’
crucifixion. On March 11, we will
focus on Judas’ betrayal of Jesus and
then on March 18, we will look at Peter’s denial. On
the 25th, we will be led in worship by our Adult
Choir. We hope you can join us as we celebrate
Jesus’ willingness to die for us.

WRITE A REFLECTION
On a recent trip to Charlotte, Bob Hensley and I
had some great conversations about some of the former
members of Spencer. Many names of great men and
women who are now in heaven came up. We thought it
would be great to have some of these written down and
then shared with the church. Would you be willing to
write a reflection about some of these influential people?
If so, we would love to have them ready for our “Birthday
Celebration” on April 22. If you could bring them by the
Church office by March 30, we would appreciate it.
Thanks in advance for sharing some of your memories of
these great people.
