From the Pastor’s Desk
“Lord, you will show us the path of life.” Psalm 16
Two totally discouraged disciples were returning home to Emmaus on Easter.
They were unaware that Jesus had risen. Suddenly Jesus came alongside them, but they
didn’t recognize him. They figured he was just a stranger who wanted company. When
they got to Emmaus, they asked him in for supper. He sat down to eat with them, took
the bread, and said the blessing; then he broke the bread and gave it to them. Then their
eyes were opened and they recognized him. Luke 24: 13 - 35
Noreen Towers was working among the poor with no evident success. One night she
went to bed very discouraged. The next morning, shortly after waking, Jesus seemed to speak
to her, saying. “Can you not trust my plan for you?” That split-second experience changed
her from a defeated person into a person with unshakeable faith. “How else but through a
broken heart, May the Lord Christ enter in?”
Is your heart troubled, or your mind preoccupied with the corona virus? Many people
are filled with anxiety, self-pity, contempt, fears of unemployment & death, negativity &
optimism, faith & trust, hope & despair, love, and even hate. In spite of the current crisis, we
are still children of God filled with a sense of peace. We may walk through the valley of
death, we shall fear no evil because the Lord is with us. Psalm 23:4. Yet, it may be that
the Lord is waiting for that opportune time to enter in during these challenging moments in
life.
As we walk on the road of Emmaus during this Easter Season, we may encounter a
rough and bumpy road, but the Lord Jesus “shows us the path to life, abounding joy in his
presence, the delights at God’s right hand forever.” Psalm 16:11. Do not let your hearts be
discouraged. Do not let your hearts be troubled. Do not be afraid. Jesus still speaks to us in
scripture and we know him in the breaking of bread. And even though we have no access to
the breaking of bread, let us set aside sacred time to make a spiritual communion with the
Lord, who is the path to life.
- Fr. Gilbert
We are such value to God that he came to live among us … and to guide us home. He will go to any length to seek us, even to being lifted high upon the cross to draw us back to himself. We can only respond by loving God for his love. - St. Catherine of Siena, (1347-1380), Patron of miscarriages, Feast Day April 29

Third Sunday of Easter April 26, 2020
In this Sunday’s Gospel, as we hear the story of the disciples on the road to Emmaus, we also come to know that our daily reaching out to our neighbor is our daily walk with the risen Christ; we recognize him in others.
Your gift in the St. Vincent de Paul Poor Box will help the poor to believe in the mystery of God’s love for them.

Prayer to St. Roch
O Blessed Saint Roch, Patron of the sick, Have pity on those
Who lie upon a bed of suffering.
Your power was so great When you were in this world, That by the sign of the Cross,
Many were healed of their diseases.
Now that you are in heaven, Your power is not less.
Offer, then, to God Our sighs and tears
And obtain for us that health we seek Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
(Repeat the following 3 times)
Saint Roch, pray for us, That we may be preserved
From all diseases of body and soul.
