Dear Holy Cross Parents:

I hope this first week of Advent was a wonderful week for you

and your family! I came across the magazine KC Parent this week

and began to read an article on the Ten Commandments of Christmas. This article caught my eye for many reasons, but as I began to read

it, I realized there were some great things to think about! Here are

a few of the commandments according to the article:

Thou shall quit worshipping perfection—decide to do things

differently this year. Strive for the good and be satisfied

with good! Enjoy the process to get the end result—even if

that means the tree is lopsided or the candy won’t stay on

the gingerbread house! Enjoy the process of decorating

the tree and gingerbread house.

Thou shall not over commit– decide which activities your

family will participate in this year! You and your family

don’t have to attend everything—pick the one or two events

that are most enthusiastic about attending!

Thou shall rediscover “the why”- take some time to reevalu-

ate your priorities. How do you and your family want

Christmas to feel? What do you want your children to re-

member most?

Thou shall REST—Self care is essential all year long, but

especially during the extra busy holidays when your stress

level is most likely to sky-rocket. Take time to re-charge!

This is the perfect time of the year to really focus on the impor-

tance of the season! I hope that you and your family are following

your family traditions during Advent and hopefully making new tradi-

tions as well!

Enjoy your weekend.

Many blessings,

Dr. Hopson

¡No debe comprometerse demasiado!

Muchas bendiciones,

Dr. Hopson
