2 Holiday Homework Class Nursery Dear Parent As the school closes for the summer break on May 14, 2016; we have planned some activities / worksheets / projects for your child to enhance his / her learning skills in a fun filled way. To encourage your child’s self – esteem and feeling of courage, help your child discover his / her hidden talents and interests. Keeping the same objective in mind we have divided the homework into two categories. 1. Holiday Homework Class Nursery

Dear Parent

As the school closes for the summer break on May 14, 2016; we have planned some

activities / worksheets / projects for your child to enhance his / her learning skills in a

fun – filled way.

To encourage your child’s self – esteem and feeling of courage, help your child discover his

Dear Children,

Summer Vacations are synonymous with fun, frolic, getting up late in the morning,

playing for longer hours with friends, going for picnics, exploring new places and

watching fun filled shows on television. But dear children, there is a lot more you

can do to make your vacations more interesting, meaning full and full of fun; along

with doing all your heart desires. Here is a “Summer vacation Activity Treasure

Box” just for you. It will surely mould you for a better and successful forthcoming

year. So get ready for your treasure hunt.

Few guidelines for your parents to make your long summer break fruitful.

1. “Knowledge is Power”. Therefore encourage your child to cultivate the

reading habit because it not only enhances the knowledge acquired but also

develops the vocabulary, language skills and improves spellings. And also

read to your child because it builds reading skills and increases his/her

attention span.

2. “A healthy mind lives in a healthy body”. Encourage your child to go out and

play because sports instill discipline, generate sporting spirits, channelize

energies constructively.

3. Communication skills play a pivotal role in grooming the overall personality

of the children. Converse with your child preferably in English to help him /

her get comfortable with the language. Encourage your child to read children’s

magazines like Magic Pot, Chandamama, Champak etc.

4. Spend quality time with your child engaging him / her in activities based on

enhancing his / her powers of observation and imagination.

5. Encourage your child to play board games e.g. Chess, Ludo, Carrom etc.

6. Sensitize your child about the rich culture and heritage by watching different

informative channels like ‘The National Geographic’, Animal Planet etc.

7. Encourage your child to do the activities himself / herself and appoint a specific

time to do homework everyday.

GENERAL GUIDELINES.

Kindly click the picture and send it in a folder ensure that the holiday homework is

completed by the student themselves under parent guidance.

Let’s try to be independent during this summer break and learn to

o Button up your shirt.

o Put on your shoes and socks.

o Pack up your bag

o Eat lunch on your own.

o Keep your surroundings neat and tidy.

o Practice the concepts learnt in the class on regular basis.

All the cutouts and craft work should be well labeled and send to school in a folder.

Take your father for a nature walk observe the beautiful plants around you with him .Collect

leaves of different sizes and shapes. Take your mother’s help and make a beautiful greeting for

your

father with leaf printing and also write a heart touching message inside it. Surprise him by

making sandwiches and lemonade in the breakfast for him with the help of your mother .

Yoga Activity

Let’s exercise

Material required – Mats

Instruction:-

• COBRA POSE Lie down on the yoga mat on the tummy, with hands near chest. Push

upwards into a backbend. When back is arched, make a loud hissing noise like a snake.

• CAT POSE Get down on hands and knees. Reach spine towards ceiling as high as

possible, so that the back is arched like a cat. Make meowing noises.

• BUTTERFLY POSE Sit on the ground and join the soles of the feet and spread the

knees. Hold your feet with hands and move the legs up and down like a butterfly moves her

wings.

• COW POSE Get on hands and knees, and then push your tummy toward the floor, while

chin and tailbone strive towards reaching the ceiling. Moo loudly like a cow.

LEARNING OUTCOME: Children will be able to learn few Aasan .

aCTIVITY 1- YUMMY FOR TUMMY (Making Table Mat)

OBJECTIVE:Awareness about eating etiquettes and visual recognition of numbers.

RESOURSES: Cut outs provided on page no.10.

MATERIAL REQUIRED:A3 size pastel sheet (any colour), glue, crayons, cutout/sticker of

your child’s favourite cartoon character, colours.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Step 1- Make a border on both the sides of A3 pastel sheet by using vegetable printing.

(ladyfinger, potato, lotus stem, onionetc.)

Step 2- Tear the cutouts/sticker of your child’sfavourite cartoon character and paste it on the

pastel sheet as shown in the sample.

Step 3- For another side of the mat take cut outs of numbers 1-9 and do ear bud printing using

poster colours on it and then paste numbers in a sequence as shown in the sample.

Step 4- Label your mat and get it laminated.

the class during the break.

ACTIVITY 2- Twinkling stars

OBJECTIVE:Building up of confidence, vocabulary of the child.

RESOURSES:Rhymes given on this page.

MATERIAL REQUIRED:Fluorescent sheets, colours, paints, glue, scissors, etc.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Step 1- Make your child learn any one of the given rhymes with gestures.

Step 2- Prepare a prop based on the rhyme for solo stage performance of the student which has to

be submitted on 15th July.

LEARNING OUTCOME: Children will learn the rhyme, different gestures and expressions

SKILLS ENHANCED: Socio Emotional, Language and Creative Expression

ACTIVITY 3- stick puppet

OBJECTIVE:To build up recognition, vocabulary and imagination skills.

RESOURSES: Cutouts on pg.no.8&9

MATERIAL REQUIRED:Ice-cream sticks, cutouts, crayons, glue.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Step 1- Decorate the cutouts of healthy fruits on page no.8&9 by doing finger

printing/thumb/vegetable/ear bud/jute printing.

Step 2- Cut these cutouts and paste each cutout on old wedding card to give a strong base.

Step 3- Now paste the cutout on the top of the ice-cream stick and write the name of the cutout

on the ice-cream stick.

LEARNING OUTCOME: Children will learn what healthy food is, enhancing their vocabulary

and imagination skills.

SKILLS ENHANCED: Fine motor, cognitive, Creative and aesthetic appreciation.

TIME REQUIRED: 15-30mins.

ACTIVITY 4- CREATIVE GALLORE (MAKING OF FLASH CARD)

OBJECTIVE:To help the child to identify and recognize the alphabet and vocabulary related to

the alphabets.

RESOURSES: Alphabets cutouts for flash cards with four pictures each of the following:-

Roll No. 1&2 Alphabets A to I

Roll No. 3&4 Alphabets J to R

Roll No. 5&6 Alphabets S to Z

MATERIAL REQUIRED:poster colours, cutouts, crayons, glue, brush.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Step 1- Decorate the cutouts of alphabets and its pictures by doing finger

printing/thumb/vegetable/ear bud/jute printing.

LEARNING OUTCOME: Identification of the particular letter with its related pictures,

vocabulary words.

SKILLS ENHANCED: Fine motor, cognitive, Creative and aesthetic appreciation, language.

TIME REQUIRED: 15mins (each letter).

ACTIVITY 5- PASTA PLAY

OBJECTIVE:To learn beading using thick thread.

RESOURSES: Pasta shells of different size and shape, thick thread, poster colours, brush,

decorative material.

MATERIAL REQUIRED:Ice-cream sticks, cutouts, crayons, glue.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Step 1- Take dried pasta of different size and shape.

Step 2- Bead them into necklace/bracelet.

Step 3- Make them bright and colourful by using vibrant colours/glitters/kundan/bindi pasting.

LEARNING OUTCOME: Children will learn beading activity.

SKILLS ENHANCED: Fine motor, cognitive, Creative and aesthetic appreciation.

TIME REQUIRED: 15-30mins.

ACTIVITY 6- little care takers

OBJECTIVE:To provide awareness and hands on experience of the immediate environment.

RESOURSES: Eco friendly bag/pouch.

MATERIAL REQUIRED:Eco friendly bag/pouch, dry leaves, twigs, grass, pebbles, dry

flowers, sand, glue, scissors, poster colour, brush.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Step 1- Go on a nature walk along with your eco-friendly bag.

Step 2- Collect dry leaves, twigs,, sand, grass, dry flowers, pebbles.

Step 3- Make a collage using all these things and paste them on A3 pastel sheet (any colour)

Step 4- Label the things you have pasted

LEARNING OUTCOME: Child will learn about the plants in nature and discovers various

things in nature.

SKILLS ENHANCED: Fine motor, Creative and aesthetic appreciation.

TIME REQUIRED: 15-30mins.
