Định nghĩa đất ngập nước

Now, what exactly is a wetland?

Is that the same as a swamp?

Bãi lầy (bog). Đất ngập nước do than bùn tích lũy mà không có dòng chảy vào hoặc chảy ra và hỗ trợ loại rêu mọc ở môi trường acid, đặc biệt là rêu nước.

Bottomland: Vùng đất thấp dọc theo sông suối, thường là trên vùng đồng bằng ngập lũ phù sa bị ngập nước định kỳ.

The term “wetlands”... Refers to lowlands convered with shallow and sometimes temporary or intermittent waters. They are referred to by such names as marshes, swamps, bogs, wet meadows, potholes, slough, and river-overflow lands. Shallow lakes and ponds, usually with emergent vegetation as a conspicuous feature, are included in the definition, but the permanent water areas that are so temporary as to have litter or no effect on the development of moist-soil vegetation. (Shaw and Fredine, 1956)

potholoes(Lỗ), slough (vũng lầy), và vùng ven sông.

Wetlands are lands transitional between terrestrial and aquatic systems where the water table is usually at or near the surface or the land is covered by shallow water...wetlands must have one or more of the following three attributes: at least periodically, the land supports predominantly hydrophytes, the substrate is nonsoil and is saturated with water or covered by shallow water at some time during the growing season of the each year.

- Vùng chuyển tiếp sinh thái trên cạn và dưới nước- Nơi nước ngầm lộ ra bề mặt hoặc được bao phủ bởi một tầng nước nông.- Có một hay nhiều trong các đặc điểm sau: Theo chu kỳ, sự chiếm ưu thế

của những loài thực vật ở nước, bề mặt được bao phủ bởi một tầng nước nông toàn thời gian hoặc trong những khoảng thời gian sinh trưởng của năm.

Wetland is defined as land having the water table at, near, or above the land surface or which is saturated for a long enough period to promote wetland or aquatic processes as indicated by hydric soils, hydrophytic vegetation, and various kinds of biological activity which are adapted to the wet environment. (Tarnocai, 1979)

Canadian Wetland Definition

- Là vùng có tầng nước ngầm ở gần bề mặt hoặc ở trên bề mặt- Có thời gian ngập nước đủ dài để các quá trình thủy sinh hoạt động

Areas of marsh, fen, peatland or water, whether natural or artificial, permanent or temporary, with water that is static or flowing, fresh, brackish, or salt including areas of marine water, the depth of which at low tide does not exceed 6 meters.(Navid, 1989; Finlayson and Moser, 1991)

The International Definition

Legal Definitions

The term “wetlands’ means those areas that are inundate or saturated by surface or ground water at a frequency and duration sufficient to support, and under normal circumstances do support , a prevalence of vegetation typically adapted for life in saturated soil conditions. Wetlands generally include swamps, marshes, bogs, and similar areas. (33 CFR328.3(b); 1984)
