CAREER ACCOMPLISHMENTS

• 1982- graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston with a diploma in Jazz composition.

• 1984- Back in DR he released his first album “Soplando” with a local group called 440 (cuatro cuarenta) later on together known as Juan Luis Guerra y 440.

• 1991- Won his first Grammy for his album called “Bachata Rosa”

• In 2004 He released a new album since 1998 that got him two awards at the 2005 Billboards.

• He also performed the lead single of his new album, "La Llave De Mi Corazon", released in March 2007. This album won more than 20 awards including 5 Latin Grammy Awards, 6 Premios Casandra Awards, 4 billboard Awards, 2 lo nuestro and one Grammy Award.

Me llamo Juan Luis Guerra. Me gusto la musica, especialmente bachata, muerenge, y salsa. No me gusta mucho los deportes. Soy alto y delgado. Tengo pelo negro en mi cabaza y tengo un barba negra tambien. Tengo cincuenta y siete años. Soy casado con Nora Vega desde 1983, y tengo dos hijos.

MANGU • Ingredients

• 4 Unripe plantains• 4 Tablespoons of butter( salted or unsalted) • 2 tablespoons of oil• 2 large red onions Sliced • 1 Tablespoon of vinegar• 1 quart of cold water• salt• How to make it

• Peel the plantains and cut into 8 pieces• Place the plantains,water and the salt in a pan.Bring to a boil and cook for 20 minutes, until

plantains are tender then lower heat(leave plantains in pot we will need the water it was boiled in)

• Heat a tablespoon of oil in a frying pan, sautee the onions until translucent, add some salt and the vinegar.

• Take the Plantains out of the water(1 pce out a time) and mash them with a fork. add the butter and some of the reserved boiled water and keep mashing. Take some more plantains and repeat this process until it is very smooth.

• Serve with onions.
