Torque Wrenches Square Drive Predator Series increase productivity

Power Team® introduces Predator Series - its newest line of high performance hydraulic pumps and tools serving the global bolting industry. This family of high performance hydraulic products raises performance and reliability to a new level. A new generation torque wrench features more efficient and faster operation in an envelope size that is 2/3rds the size of aluminum wrenches, allowing the tool to be used in applications where space is limited, yet is still comparable in weight. The Predator Series of torque wrenches includes Square Drive (capacity until 33,500 Nm). Their steel body provides a compact tool that can be used in the most inaccessible bolting areas found in the industry. The 360° reaction arm and the multi-axis high flow swivel manifold allow maximum application flexibility and the unique fast operation cycle, minimum 30 degrees of rotation per stroke yields, increases productivity up to 40%. Each component on the tools has been optimized to minimize weight and reduce operator fatigue without sacrificing strength and durability, using steel alloy, high strength titanium and aluminum. Tools utilize a high grade nickel plated finish, making them suitable for sub-sea application in a salt water environment. Rigid steel body construction involves maximum durability for reliable operation. The Predator Series of torque wrenches Square Drive have a superior torsional strength. Minimal body twist eliminates the need for a mechanical pawl release. This torsion resistant body provides consistent torque output.

A button reversal of Square Drive enables rapid tool change when tightening or loosening. It’s quicker and easier for the operator and increase productivity too. These tools also take into account his safety; he is protected by the fully enclosed drive mechanism which minimizes the potential for pinch points and injuries.

The Predator Series of torque wrenches Square Drive have a high level of reliability. For longer more durable tool life, a fine tooth pawl promotes full tooth engagement, a floating piston design eliminates off-center loading of the stroking piston and the simple design minimize the number of parts –up to 25% less parts than other wrenches.

Confident in its products, SPX Hydraulic Technologies offers lifetime warranty against defects in workmanship and material.

The Predator range of hydraulic pumps and wrenches offers a reliable performance based solution to the challenging bolting needs.

SPX ADVISER, the most user-friendly software for flange maintenance

Adviser Controlled Bolting Software was developed to advise process pipeline contractors and engineers on accurate tightening data for ANSI, MSS, API topsides and sub-sea flanges. In refineries, oil/gas platform, power stations and chemical plants many companies and individuals have already chosen to use Adviser.

Because it is so easy to use, both experienced and non-experienced users have found the software to be informative, powerful and essentially invaluable to the degree that it has rapidly established itself as the world leading bolt tightening software.

The programme allows the user the option to create an individual file for the flange application. From there you can then select from a number of drop-down menus covering the flange class, flange size, bolt material, gasket type and joint type. The normal bolt size and bolt tightening data will be shown either in metric or imperial based on the user’s preference. Although typical standard information is automatically generated, the software does allow user specified data to be utilised and calculated based on that input. For further client information a dimensional drawing of the flange is also shown on screen which can assist to identify flanges that may have lost their stamped identification details. Further information provided includes the bolt length, bolt & nut dimensional data, bolt material data and the torque or tension calculation data in detail. The software goes on to advise the recommended load cell and pump pressure settings when tensioning the joint or the recommended torque wrench and pump pressure settings for torque tightening the joint.

The current software version 3 has some additional features which include - ▪▪▪▪ All of the input data and calculated information can be saved as a customised “Joint Record Sheet”

which can significantly reduce paper records as there is no longer any need to produce a Bolt Tightening Data sheet although that function is there should the user prefer to create and file print-outs.

▪▪▪▪ A new web-style introduction interface with increased level of product and service information. ▪▪▪▪ Clamp connector tightening data covering brands such as Techlok, Galperti, Destec and Grayloc. ▪▪▪▪ Custom flange calculation option for use with pressure vessel, heat exchanger, foundation bolts or

compact flange application calculations. ▪▪▪▪ Direct PDF generation of documents through the free Adobe Acrobat Reader software. ▪▪▪▪ User logo facility to allow companies to upload their own logo and address details which will be

generated on each new document. ▪▪▪▪ Pressure to torque conversion charts for all Predator/TTS tools either for viewing or print out.

SPX CONTROLLER Software : the most comprehensive and powerful flange management system for industrial plants

Controller Joint Monitoring software is a bespoke database system specifically developed to plan, monitor, control and provide traceability of flanged joints and connections. This database system interacts with the “Adviser Controlled Bolting Software” calculation engine, runs on the standard Windows operating system and does not require the use of third party database servers. It has been adopted by major plant operators as an essential management system due to its simplicity and comprehensive covering of the plant and related maintenance.

Controller Joint Monitoring software answers to several functionalities requiring full traceability and control of all activities associated with the joint/connection :

• Joint disassembly/breakout • Machining/re-facing • Joint assembly • Bolt tightening • Testing(Hydrostatic, Pneumatic, Nitrogen or Helium) • Leak history and incidents

It interacts seamlessly with “Adviser Controlled Bolting” software to provide bolting calculations and data for :

• BS1560/ANSI B16.5 standard flanges • MSS SP44 standard flanges • API 6A and 17D standard flanges • Clamp type connectors(Techlok, Grayloc, Galperti and Destec) • Non-standard joints, i.e. pressure vessels, heat exchangers,

compact flanges, etc..

Controller Joint Monitoring software allows project control and review by visual status display of each joint. It performs as a central source for documentation and records associated with each activity or task. It provides joint tightening procedures and methods, generates tooling lists and provides and maintains historical data for each joint. It integrates a search engine to find and display specific flanges/records and it’s embedded equipment database providing access to service records, tool calibration, etc.. And the embedded personnel database provides access to individual training, competence, qualifications, etc.. Completed joint databases can be viewed and interrogated by a freeware viewer which can be freely distributed throughout the organisation.
