Seat Belts

Lap-Shoulder BeltOn coupe models, the driver seatbelt has an Automatic LockingRetractor (ALR). This feature isuseful in performance drivingscenarios where the driver wants tobe held in the seat more tightly totake advantage of the aggressivebolstering of the seat.

To use:

1. Move the seat 8–10 cm (3–4 in) rearward from the normaldriving position.

2. Pull the driver shoulder belt outas far as it will go, until it stops,to set the lock. While holdingthe shoulder belt in thisposition, buckle the belt.

When you release the shoulderbelt, the retractor will make aratchet sound when it retracts. When the retractor lock is set,the belt can be tightened butnot pulled out of the retractor.

3. Adjust the belt close to yourbody, and then move the seatforward 8–10 cm (3–4 in) to thedesired driving position. Thiswill hold the belt to your bodyeven tighter. The belt fit shouldbe tight, but not uncomfortable.

To unlatch the belt, press the buttonon the buckle. The belt shouldreturn to its stowed position.

Caution

If the vehicle does not shift gears, the transmission could bedamaged. Have the vehicleserviced right away.

Performance Shifting

While driving in Sport Mode andTrack Mode, if Tap Shift has notbeen activated, the transmissiondetermines when the vehicle isbeing driven in a competitivemanner. The transmission mayremain in a gear longer than itwould in the normal driving modebased on throttle input and vehiclelateral acceleration. If there is arapid reduction in throttle from aheavy throttle position at high rpm,

the transmission will maintain thecurrent gear up to near redline rpm. While braking, the transmission willautomatically downshift to the nextlower gear keeping engine speedabove approximately 3000 rpm.If the vehicle is then driven for ashort time at a steady speed, andwithout high cornering loads, thetransmission will upshift one gear ata time, until 10 (Tenth) gear. Aftershifting to 10 (Tenth) gear, or comingto a complete stop, the transmissionwill return to normal Sport Modeshifting.

Ride Control Systems

Competitive Driving ModeCompetitive Driving Mode,Performance Traction Management, and Launch Control are systemsdesigned to allow increasedperformance while accelerating and/or cornering. This is accomplishedby regulating and optimizing theengine, brakes, and suspensionperformance. These modes are foruse at a closed course race trackand are not intended for use onpublic roads. They will notcompensate for driver inexperienceor lack of familiarity with the racetrack. Drivers who prefer to allowthe system to have more control ofthe engine, brakes, and suspensionare advised to turn the normalTraction Control System (TCS) andStabiliTrak™ on.

Limited-Slip DifferentialThe Electronic Limited-SlipDifferential (eLSD) is a hydraulicallyactuated clutch system. It caninfinitely vary the clutchengagement between 0 and 200Y (147 lb ft) of breakaway torquebetween the rear wheels. It responds to full engagement

within 0.150 seconds whennecessary. Smaller clutchadjustments happen even faster.

The eLSD:

. Uses the vehicle sensors anddriver inputs to determine theoptimum amount of clutchengagement for the conditions.

. Improves traction whilecornering by changing theengagement to achieve abalance between directionalcontrol and acceleration.

. Provides optimal engagementfor high-speed control andstability without affecting precisesteering and turn-in.

. Improves vehicle stability duringspirited driving and evasivemaneuvers. Is fully integratedwith the Active Handling andPerformance TractionManagement (PTM) systems.

There are unique calibrations basedon the Traction Control System(TCS) setting. eLSD modes changeautomatically whenY is pressed. No unique input from the driver isrequired.

. Mode 1 is the standard modewhen the vehicle is started. It provides a touring calibrationwith an emphasis on vehiclestability. Mode 1 is also used inPTM Wet mode.

. Mode 2 is engaged when bothTCS and StabiliTrak are turnedoff. This calibration providesmore nimble corner turn-in, andis biased for better traction out ofcorners.

. Mode 3 is engaged when PTM isengaged in Dry, Sport 1 & 2, andRace modes. This is a nimblecalibration with similarfunctionality as eLSD Mode 2,however, it is integrated to workwith PTM.
