Worthy Brother Knights, Vivat Jesus

Welcome to our newest members: Greg Nowell sponsored by Paul St. Clair, and William Dunphy sponsored by John Miller. We have had twenty four new members this fraternal year including two reactivations and two transfers. If you know someone that would make a good Knight talk to our Membership Director, Paul St. Clair. Contact Paul at [email protected]. And if you are a Catholic lady, you can join our Donne-Gals by contacting Julie Maher at [email protected].

On Tuesday, May 17th we will hold our annual election of council officers and building association board members. The council will be open for voting at noon. Voting will continue until our member-ship meeting starts at 7pm. We have two open positions for Trustee and our two candidates are Kevin Flynn and Peter Ar-genta. Both will make valuable additions as officers to our council.

In regards to the building association, there are three open board positions and six candidates. Please take time to read the information provided by each candidate that is included in this newslet-ter. The building is managed by a board of twelve council members. Please be sure to consider the candidates and make time to vote on May 17th.

As a follow up to all those I thanked for

helping with the MI Drive, I left out one critical contributor, Pat Casey. He was in the MI headquarters at the council the whole weekend, and has been year after year supporting the MI Drive. And when it’s over, her handles the accounting. Thank you Pat Casey!

Brother Ed Morris is looking for your support. Ed and his family will be partici-pating in the MS150, a 2 day 150 mile bike ride to raise funds for multiple scle-rosis. If you would like to donate, please go to www.bikems.org and click donate, write Ed Morris in search field, then click donate again. Or, drop off a check at the council bar in an envelope addressed to Ed and payable to MS Society.

their families. Breakfast to follow at the Monaghan Council for $10 per person and free for public servants and children age seven and under.

After taking the month of March off, the Donne Gals met for their monthly meeting on Thursday, April 21st. We are happy to report that by our diligent fund raising efforts from the Euchre Tournament and bake sale during lent, the Living Your Faith Scholarship is fully funded. Thank you to all that purchased baked good over the Lenten season and participated in the Euchre Tournament.

Our next meeting will be on Thursday, May 19 at 7:00 pm. At this meeting, applications for the Living Your Faith Scholarship will be available and will also be behind the bar at the council if anyone should stop by to pick one up. If you are unable to stop by the council, please contact me at [email protected] and I can send you an application electronically. Applications are due by June 30 and the scholarship will be announced at the Monaghan Council Picnic in July.

Katie Mann, St. Aidan parishioner and co-founder of 4th Wall Theatre Company will be speaking at our May 19th meeting. 4th Wall Theatre Company is a mobile theatre for people with disabilities and has almost 90 locations throughout Michigan. They have serviced almost 4,000 people in the past three years using singing, acting and dancing as methods for friendship, social skills and personal growth. 4th Wall Theatre says everyone’s a star!

There will be no Donne Gals meeting in June, July and August but will resume in September 2016.

If you are a Catholic lady interested in joining the Donne Gals, please feel free to contact me at [email protected].
