This urban installation on the city threshold was conceived as an experience engaging viewers from a distance as they approach the city and as they move through the installation.

The repetitive ribs enhance the sense of speed, as it morphs and tapers along two diagonally opposite pockets implying a framing of the primary vehicular artery. During the day, these ribs cast prolonged shadows across the roads, whilst at night they are lighting features, creating a similar experience through inversion.. A ribbon of tress are designed to intertwine the site with a central green pocket for the existing mosque on site.

Architecturally the design form is conceived as a linear volume folding along the contours of the site. The metaphoric ‘folds’ are conceived as event spaces; designed as voids to create a vertical synapse, visually connecting/ integrating multiple levels. The ramps wrap around these voids creating a display of the movement of people. Through its folds it also creates a series of external break out spaces that can cater to gender segregation.

The library metaphorically is conceived as a space that facilitates the transcendence of space through the mind. The design concept builds on the notion of the text, enabling virtual transcendence as the 'unfolding of (mind) space.'

This project aligns the self-focused research zones in linear blocks parallel, whilst the circulation and social break out spaces are extroverted looking to a crystalline glazed form. Bridges linking the blocks also serve as smaller intimate zones creating a hierarchy of intimate spaces. The crystalline form takes its inspiration from origami.

Of the 3 options presented, one highlighting a tapered cantilevered form, and another articulating the sculptural capacity of cement, the client opted for the display of fair-faced concrete panels in a building form that was conceived as a series of cubes encasing a glazed volume.

The rigidity of the form is broken by an oblong oval oculus. Internally diagonal bridges on first and second cut across the void creating a interactive dynamic display.

The leading cement manufacturers in Saudi Arabia headquarters displays the unique characteristics of their product.

The spaces facing the convex side face the sea in Jeddah and are hence dedicated to the larger offices whilst the internal courtyard facing spaces are open plan work spaces as well receptions and waiting lobbies. The access to the building is through a linear courtyard arriving at a double height lobby on ground.

The design aims to transform the building into a formally viable urban piece which strengthens the urban form and reinforces the city fabric. The tower configuration provides an opportunity to display a visual interplay of shadows and reflections. The juxtaposition of two primary masses contains the building volume while responding to the differing urban and solar character of each face.

Through the variation in the solar responsive façade, the design attempts to create a sense of orientation. This twelve storied office block comprises of a showroom and service center for the clients electronics products. The tower block is designed for rentable offices and is arranged in an L-shape to address the corner site and enhance city views for speculative tenants. The blocks of the L shaped plan are treated differently creating a unique viewing experiences. The shallow plan allows the office to be day lit environments. The proposed stone cladding allows the building to provide a thermal buffer in the harsh climate whilst it ages gracefully in the high salinity of the environment. COMM 3 is a forty two storied commercial development situated on prime real estate on the corner of an upscale locality. On the onset of the real estate boom aimed to attract speculative tenants to this prestigious address. The building is inclusive of two technical floors as well as seven levels of podium parking and two levels of retail mall.

Inside the building, several public and VIP spaces are either double height or more, are incorporated inside the glazed form to heighten the sense of verticality. Structurally, the administration building is a hybrid structure gaining support from the central core and the diagonal shear walls and columns in the opaque components.

The twelve storied administration building is designed to accentuate the vertical glazed form with a receding floor plate to create a forced perspective. Creating an illusion of verticality to cater to the University’s aspiration of a tower form.

Additionally, it also houses auditoriums of various capacities, gymnasiums, sports halls, training halls, first aid and medical facilities, administrative functions, support and building services. The structure comprises of 18 primary and 22 secondary steel frames which holds the spectators and houses the support functions underneath. The primary frames support the roof and have a cantilevered span of 21 meters, creating a column free arena. A tensile dome comprising of a lightweight frame system with a high performance fabric covers the remainder of the arena. Tensotherm membrane with 32mm Aerogel insulation was specified to create a roof with a U-vale of 0.63 w/m sq k and a Solar Heat Gain Co-efficient of 2.4% allowing the stadium to be a day lit space.

The design story board incorporated historic references as well as contemporary functional facilities such as cranes and industrial containers to display the achievement of the Ports Authorities. The flow of visitors started along the periphery of the site, flanked by the historic Ageer columns leading to the most dominant icon, the light house. The light house acts as the reception and a viewing deck facilitating view of the entire festival site. Features such as a suspended bridge and floating performance deck bring an event based attraction to the expo. The main gallery is housed in the containers which displays an industrial aesthetic. The floating platform is a casual outdoor space for a café.

The design celebrates the threshold between land and sea for the annual festival in the historic district of Janderia. The design creates multi-tiered possibilities of display and attraction.

The projects comprises of basement parking for retail, two levels of a retail mall, 2 levels of podium parking, podium deck recreational facilities, and four twenty two storied residential towers. The residential layout adheres to the local customs of privacy and are oriented to view out to a seasonal canal beyond the expressway. The apartments are design with dual entrances separating the family entrance from the service entrance. The variety of apartment layout s provides a greater opportunity for different sized families, in addition to penthouse level duplexes.

The project site is the result amalgamation of seven independent plots. The design addresses each site independently yet creating a cohesive development in an attempt to create a suburban hub with its own identity. Restricting the vehicular access to the periphery, created opportunity to develop a central park as a pedestrian zone. The commercial spaces are accessible by vehicular circulation whilst the residential access is through a pedestrian zones. The user bifurcation adds to a level of security for the residents. The apartment blocks provide six units per floor and the layout provides natural light and ventilation to all central cores.
