BackgroundHernando was born in 1500, he was born in

Jerez De Los Caballeros, Spain. Sadly, Hernando died from a fever on May 21st 1542.

Hernando started exploring in 1528. He started to explore the state we now call Mississippi. On the way Hernando decided to explore a little part of Florida.

While Hernando was in Mississippi, he decided to explore the Mississippi River. This is the

route that Hernando traveled through: He went through Texas, Natchez,

Tallahassee, but he didn’t make it back to Cuba because he died in Mississippi.
