I was once that kid who if I was tapped playfully on the back, or if I got caught up in a period of

hysterical laughter would almost inevitably have an asthma attack.

I was that kid who had to stay indoors and avoid as many activities as possible such as sports,

outdoor events like hiking and even chores (well I did not mind being excused from work most

of the times), all due to the the same reason: I was asthmatic.

Folks, even though it has been claimed there is no cure for asthma, I, a former asthma victim

would like to use this medium to show why I stopped using asthma drugs.

As with most conventional even prescription drugs, when one truly considers the side effects that

the substances may have, it makes one wonder if they are even worth being prescribed and used

in the medical field and by the misinformed public.

In the case of Asthma, I’ll analyze the number one asthma treatment drug: Ventolin.

Friends, this was the drug that I used to use both as an inhaler and in its pill form and it is

arguably the most prescribed from of medication for asthma control.

However, studies have indicated that this drug might actually cause more harm than good in

regards to asthma treatment.

Consider the following symptoms attributed to this drug for yourself.

1. Shaking, usually of the hands (tremor)

2. Nervous tension

3. Headache

4. Faster than normal heart beat (tachycardia)

5. Awareness of your heart beat (heart palpitations)

Now, I am quick to add that medicines and their possible side effects can affect individual people

in different ways.

Folks, it should be noted that just because a side effect is stated here, it does not mean that all

people using this medicine will experience that or any of these symptoms.

Still, I must stress that even if you look at what the drug manufacturers have indicated on the

package itself, you can see even more information about any other possible risks associated with

this asthma treatment medicine do exist.

At least the are kind enough to tell us eh?

Well, I am sure if I have gotten your attention thus far you may have the question in mind along

the lines of what alternative treatments of asthma can be used and are there any at all?

That, my friends, will be the subject of another article, but to whet your appetite, yes there are

some natural options to help with treating asthma.

They are inexpensive, common sense and within the reach of practically any and everyone who

chooses to give them a shot.

To conclude, it goes without saying that the quality of your breathing is the very essence of

healthy living. So naturally, asthma need not be a barrier to achieving that.

There are indeed helpful alternatives to breaking Asthma’s hold on you.
