We've been talking about it for a while, and now Spring has
come....On 9th September 2012 the community around Herbert will
be coming together for some gardening, garden styling and a BBQ at
the Herbert Street Kerbside Garden, between 10am-4pm.!
!We are lucky to be Working alongside Lucas Libertas from "Libertas
Gardens" !

Concept for the Herbert Street Garden!
Proposed activities for the day!!
1. Sheet mulch under the apple.!
2. Make that area into a nice “chill out” area.!
3. Weed along the fences.!
4. Plant trees and shrubs (prepare soil before).!
5. Mulch the area.!
6. Weed garden along the apartment wall.!
7. Plant banana and passion fruit vines.!
8. Set up compost bins.!
9. Have fun....on the swing in the tree!!
Wish list;!
We have compiled a wish list, because we thought that you, or people you know maybe able to add some of their old gardening equipment and furniture to this garden.!
Chill area:!
• Outdoor furniture (picnic table, chairs..).!
• Lots of cardboard to sheet mulch with (there cannot be too much).!
• Lots of wood mulch (an arborist will be dropping mulch for us if he can, but the more the merrier).!

Area around the fence:!
• Cardboard and mulch.!
• Shrubs (cherry guavas per example).!
• Small evergreen trees (3 citrus would be great. A few natives too).!
• Ground cover plants.!
• Climbing plants (hardenbergia or passion fruit vines).!
• Forks and other tools to fight the runner grasses.!
• Edging materials of some kind a good bonus.!
• Compost, manures, worm casting and other goodness.!
Along the townhouse wall:!
• 2-3 passion fruit vines.!
• 1 banana tree.!
•Cardboard and mulch.!
•Compost bin near bananas !
•Ground cover plants and grasses!
