Discoverthe most glamorous items from the Herbert's costume collection in All Dressed Up,investigate the truth behind some of the popular myths about ancient Egypt with ourbrand new blockbuster exhibition Secret Egypt, and explore the amazingregenerative abilities of organic substances in Trapezius.

This season's events offer something for everyone with practical workshops, familyevents, an evening extravaganza and a stimulating range of FREE talks and workshopslinked to our temporary exhibitions. Don't forget our family friendly events all have aHerbot symbol next to them to help you find them more easily.

Located in the cultural heart of Coventry city centre, next to the historic Cathedral, theHerbert Art Gallery & Museum is the perfect place to visit to learn more about thehistory of Coventry and immerse yourself in art and culture.

All Dressed Up Gallery 415 January – 27 March 2011

FREE Exhibitions

The Herbert is opening the doors to its amazingcostume collection for this brand newexhibition. Explore the most glamorous items ofevening wear from three very differentdecades, and discover how people got AllDressed Up in the 1890s, 1920s and 1950s.

This exhibition is an opportunity to consider howour clothes shape our lives.

Secret Egypt Unravelling Truth from Myth Galleries 1, 2 & 311 February – 5 June 2011

Investigate the truth behind some of the mythsabout ancient Egypt. Did aliens build thepyramids? What was the mummy's curse? Were the Egyptians obsessed with death?

The displays bring together over 200 objectsfrom some of the most important Egyptiancollections in the country including a giantstatue of Ramesses II from the British Museum, a rare sculpture of Queen Nefertiti from theAshmolean and a well preserved mummy of a woman called Perenbast. Also on display willbe many treasures previously unseen by thepublic including objects from ManchesterUniversity Museum, the Birmingham Museumcollections and Bolton Museum.www.secretegypt.org.uk

Trapezius Gallery 49 April – 29 June 2011

Through sculpture, installation and architecturalprojections, artists Lisa Gunn and Flora Parrottexplore the ways in which the human spine andthe muscles surrounding it can be repaired andregenerate themselves. Gunn’s work reflects theeffects that the healing of her own back hashad on her life, and Parrott’s focuses on theability of organic substances to grow, reformand mimic one another.

Holocaust Memorial DayBelsen Head Exhibition22 January – 6 FebruaryCreated in 1945, Belsen Head by RaymondMason is an immediate reaction to theunfolding horrors as concentration camps wereliberated. Also showing will be newlycommissioned works in response to the pieceby artists and film-makers Derek Nisbet, LorsenCamps and Sara Haile.

Bomb in the High Street FREETuesday 19 April Dr Lesley Whitworth has studied the casualty listsfrom the IRA bomb in 1939 to explore who wasdoing what, and why, in this fascinating look atlife before the outbreak of war.
