Hebrews 2

Good morning welcome to Calvary Chapel at the Bridge''

1Hebrews 2 1Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it. 1

2For since the message declared by angels proved to be reliable and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution,

2

3how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard,

3 4while God also bore witness by signs and wonders and various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.

4

5Now it was not to angels that God subjected the world to come, of which we are speaking. 5

6It has been testified somewhere, What is man, that you are mindful of him,or the son of man, that you care for him?6

7You made him for a little while lower than the angels; you have crowned him with glory and honor,7

8putting everything in subjection under his feet. Now in putting everything in subjection to him, he left nothing outside his control. At present, we do not yet see everything in subjection to him.

8

9But we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.

9 Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Philippians 2:5-11 5Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 5

6who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 6

7but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 7

8And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 8

9Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 9

10so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 10

11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. 11

10For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering.

10

Isaiah 53:3-12 3He was despised and rejected by men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faceshe was despised, and we esteemed him not.

3 4Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.4

5But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities;upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes we are healed.

5

6All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way;and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.6

7He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth;like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth.

7

8By oppression and judgment he was taken away; and as for his generation, who considered that he was cut off out of the land of the living, stricken for the transgression of my people?

8

9And they made his grave with the wicked and with a rich man in his death, although he had done no violence, and there was no deceit in his mouth.

9

10Yet it was the will of the LORD to crush him; he has put him to grief; when his soul makes an offering for sin, he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days; the will of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.

10

11Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied; by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant, make many to be accounted righteous, and he shall bear their iniquities.

11

12Therefore I will divide him a portion with the many, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong, because he poured out his soul to death and was numbered with the transgressors;yet he bore the sin of many, and makes intercession for the transgressors.

12

11For he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one origin. That is why he is not ashamed to call them brothers,

11

12saying,I will tell of your name to my brothers; in the midst of the congregation I will sing your praise.12

13And again, I will put my trust in him. And again,Behold, I and the children God has given me.13

14Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil,

14

15and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. 15

16For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham. 16

17Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.

17

18For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted. 18 Psalm 8:3-6 3When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,3

4what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?4

5Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.5

6You have given him dominion over the works of your hands;you have put all things under his feet,6

7all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field,7

8the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas.8

9O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!9
