Shampoo and Styling

Is your hair constantly taking the heat from blowdryers, flat irons and other heatstyling? Heat can really dry it out, leaving it brittle and prone to breakage. You shouldalways use a heat protectant product before blow-drying or using hot tools. Your Hier andHaines stylist can recommend the best hair styling products for you.

It’s a good idea to give your hair a break from hot tools and–believe it or not–towash your hair every other day instead of daily. If you work out every day and sweatit up at the gym, it may seem impossible to skip a shampoo. Try a dry shampoo or scheduleyour shampoos on heavy workout days.

Regular Haircuts

Healthy hair requires regular haircuts. Space your haircuts no more than six to eightweeks apart for long hair, and four to five weeks for short hair. This will guard your hairagainst breakage and split ends.

When split ends start, they need to be taken care of soon because the “split” can keepgoing right up the hair shaft, leaving a not-so-pretty situation. Regular haircuts not onlyprevent split ends, but they restore volume to layered haircuts by helping tomaintain the shape.

Color

Remember that salon quality color is the only color that should ever touch yourlovely locks. Box color may contain metallic dyes which are harmful to the hair.
