HEALING THE ROOT OF ANGER

Think of the situation, the story that made you angry.

Reflect upon it or perhaps share the story with someone.

As you speak about it, allow yourself to feel deeply into the anger associated with the story.

Now comes the challenge:  Feel the raw anger or rage underlying the story,

but as independent from the story.

You are rarely angry about what you think you are angry about.  More often than not, anger is in the physiology, not the situation.

Psychologists tell us that most of our issues originated in the first five years of our life.

Anger is a state built up in the physiology through our past.  The current story just touched into and triggered that anger.

To heal your life, look beyond the story.  Unless you get to the root of anger,

which lies beyond the story, you will never heal it.

The root, the raw anger, is usually the result of early childhood experiences.

Projecting your anger onto a current situation or person is called transference.

When you are in transference, you are certain that everything about the story proves your anger about the story is justified.

When you are wearing green tinted glasses, everything is seen as green. 

Transference colors, even defines, our life experiences.

Getting past transference is not easy and usually requires assistance.  It requires reflection, self honesty, and time. 

A skilled counselor can help.

Getting to the roots of anger is the major aspect to the true hero’s journey.
