This is a text system which will be another way that we can communicate with parents/students. The system allows us to send reminders of homework, field trip, and etc. in a short text. This text system for communication will be optional.

At Home Reading—Reading Response
At 20 minutes FIVE days per week will be required. This is a time for your student to practice the strategies that we are working on in class.
10 books per term—40 total Book responses for the year Summarize books they read
SPELLING—
Words will come home on Monday and tests will be given on Friday.
Students should plan on spending a few minutes each night studying their spelling words.

MATH Modeling with manipulatives Homework will often be a few
problems of what we did in class not always a worksheet. Students should come home able to do this on their own.
Parents can always help by encouraging and practicing basic facts.
Playing cards will be used as number cards
SOCIAL STUDIES— 4th grade’s emphasis is Utah
History Geography of Utah Utah history and historical figures Cultural diversity in Utah Economic activity in Utah State and local government
BIRTHDAYS--
Treats are welcome, but please follow the school guidelines that are in the handbook. Treats can be handed out before lunch or before the end of the school day.
Summer birthdays will be celebrated on ½ birthdays!
