The memory verse this morning is taken from:

    - 1 Corinthians 1:2 &

    - Luke 10:2

    1 Corinthians 1:2 states:

To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified

in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call

on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours

    Luke 10:2: states:

Then He said to them, The harvest truly is great, but the laborersare few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers

    into His harvest.

The topic this morning as I repeat for emphasis, or for those who may

have missed it is, He has called you to be Saints.

Who is this He that I speak about, God. The King of kings, the Lord

of lords has called, and who has He called, you!

    What is a saint?

The original Bible words that have been translated to the English

wordsaintare found through the entire Old and New Testaments.

The Hebrew Words in The Old Testament

o koe-desh meant sacred, holy, or dedicated

o kaw-dosh meant sacred or holy

    o kaw-seedmeant good or holy

The GreekWord In The New Testament

o hag-ee-oes meant sacred, pure or blameless

All of the original words above (listed in their transliterated form -

written according to how they sound in English) all carry the same

definition of a saint - someone who is sacred, holy, pure, blameless,

dedicated. They became saints by means of the Holy Spirit, which

can only come from God. God therefore chooses His saints, and gives

them of His Holy Spirit to make it possible.

The people described as saints in the Bible were however still very

much human. They were called, they were holy, and they were

extremely dedicated (both in terms of attitude, and in the sense of

being set apart), but they were still real people, far from perfect.

Saints never stopped being normal people - fishermen, farmers, tentmakers, doctors, teachers, carpenters. The "little people" of the

congregations were as much saints as the most famous and prominent

ones such as Peter and Paul

    Exodus 3:2, 10

And the Angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire from

the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning

with fire, but the bush was not consumed.

Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may

bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.

    Jonah 1:1 & 2

Now the word of the LORD came to Jonah the son of Amittai,

    saying, Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it;

for their wickedness has come up before Me.

    Revelation 3:20 states:

    4/9

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and

opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with

    Me.

What all of these texts have in common is that God comes to us and

calls us to Him. He calls us to be Holy, sanctified and pure. For God

can only dwell in a clean and undefiled temple. For God hath not

called us unto uncleanness but unto holiness ( 1 Thess 4:7 ),. But

apart from dwelling within us God calls us for a higher purpose.

Why is God calling you and me to be Saints.

Let us look at the second text that I referenced for this sermon, that is,

    Luke 10:2.

Then He said to them, The harvest truly is great, but the laborers

are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers

    into His harvest.

Also let us turn our bibles to Titus 3:11-15 which states:

For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to allmen,

teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should

live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the

blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior

Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from

every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for goodworks.Speakthese things, exhort, andrebuke with

allauthority. Let no one despise you.

Having been sanctified, and living a pure life through the acceptance

of Jesus as your savior, we are required to go and tell others about thelove of Christ. Those who have been touched by Jesus have been

unable to hold their tongues and have a desire to tell others about the

love of God. For instance in the story of when Christ revealed her

lifestyle to her and offered her a new life Mary Magdalene went into

her home town and told them about the wonders of that Jesus had

revealed unto her. Also there are those who He healed, the lame, the

blind they would tell others about the wonders that Jesus has wrought

    in their lives.

The fact is, when we have received the light i.e. Jesus, in our lives we

are expected to share that light with others. God needs laborers, we

are to be co-laborers with Christ. The most effective witness of Christ

portrayed by any Christian is the life of that Christian. The world

looks upon the righteous or those that profess righteousness. If a

candle is lit in a dark room, moths and other insects will be drawn to

it. The same happens when we lift up the name of Jesus in this darkand sinful world all men shall be drawn unto him (John 12:32) We

are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a

peculiar people; that you should shew forth the praises of Him who

hath called you out of darkness into marvelous light.

    1Peter 4:9

    In,

    Exodus 3:7 & 8 it states:

And the LORD said: I have surely seen the oppression of My people

who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their

taskmasters, for I know their sorrows. 8 So I have come down to

deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up

from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk

and honey, to the place of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the

Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites.

And in Jonah 1:1-2 it says:

Now the word of the LORD came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying,

Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it; for their

wickedness has come up before Me.

And in Luke Chapter 2 verse nine the greatest saint of all is recorded

as saying, Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be

    about My Fathers business?

All of these texts continue to reinforce the fact that the reason God

calls us to be saints, sacred, holy, pure, blameless and dedicated, is

that we can go out and be laborers for Him. Going into the highways

and bi-ways and telling others the Gospel truth. God wants to use ustoday. Shall you allow yourself to be used?

    What is our reward

After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no

one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues,

standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white

robes, with palm branches in their hands,

I said to him, Sir,[a] you know.

So he said to me, These are the ones who come out of the greattribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the

blood of the Lamb. Rev 7:9 & 14.

This church, is the patience of the saint. All Christ asks that we do is

to do His will and trust in His promises. For trust and obedience isthe only way, there is no other.
