THE DOCTOR IS IN...

Through the clinical faculty of The FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, professional medical services are available on the Modesto Maidique Campus for FIU faculty and staff.

The Faculty Group Practice is currently located in the University Health Services Complex.

The Florida International University’s HealthCare Network with the College of Medicine’s clini-cal faculty provides FIU faculty and staff with convenient, affordable primary care, preventive care, and management of chronic disease such as hypertension and diabetes. Patient education is also an integral part of healthcare mainte-nance and can be disease-specific or related to promoting a healthy lifestyle.

FIU HEALTHCARE NETWORK

FIU’s Healthcare Network (FIU-HCN) manages the practice to exclusively serve FIU’s faculty and staff.

PRIMARY HEALTH CARE

Family medicine physicians provide primary healthcare services and treat acute and chronic illnesses which include sore throats, skin rashes, flu-like symptoms, ear infections, and allergic reactions.

PHYSICIANS

Our board certified physicians can manage most of your healthcare needs in our offices. If you need speciality care, there are College of Medicine providers in your health plan’s network who can be accessed by you for specialty and other medical services.

Primary care providers typically serve as the princi-pal and first point of contact for health care. Patients generally choose a family medicine physician or a general internist to be their primary care physician. Primary care physicians have an extensive medical knowledge because they care for patients of all ages with varying medical problems.

OFFICE VISIT CO-PAYMENTS

The co-payment for primary care physician’s office visit is being waived for faculty and staff who have health insurance coverage with one of the HMO or PPO plans offered to full time FIU employees. This is a value-added benefit for FIU employees. Copayments for specialty care visits are collected.

The FIU Health Care Network and the College of Medicine wants this to not only be a convenient place to get professional medical services but an affordable healthcare option for FIU employees with ease of access and quality care.
