Dan Gorden Hall Annual Meeting The Annual Meeting will begin at 10:00 a.m. on March 16, 2017 in the Dan Gorden Hall. Members are encouraged to attend. We need a minimum quorum of 298. One vote per house is allowed. An additional notice of the Annual Meeting, and an Agenda will be delivered to each home on February 24,2017. Absentee Ballots will be mailed on February 24,2017. New Board Members The four retiring directors are Butch Lichtenberger, Jeff Carr, Barbara Weese and John Haag. The self-nomination deadline for new Board members was Friday, January 27, 2017. There were four members who filed self-nomination forms for the three year term. They are Monty Moon, Edwin "Quince" Wilcox, Cathy Serfass and Virginia "Ginny" Stevens. There was 1 member who filed a self-nomination form for the two year term. That person is Paul "Pete" Hurlburt. Their resumes and pictures are included with this publication. Under the Florida Residential Cooperative law (Chapter 719) an election for Board members is not required when the number of vacancies on 'the Board equals the number of candidates. Therefore, there will not be an election of Directors for the Board for the two year term but there will be an election for the three year terms. Election of Board Members Members who do not wish to vote by absentee ballot may vote on March 16 th at the Annual Meeting. The polls will be open for one hour after the close of the business session. All balloting will be by written, secret ballot. A sample ballot and resumes of the candidates are included with this notice. Members unable to come to the Dan Gorden Hall on March 16, 2017 to vote may vote by absentee ballot. Absentee ballot forms are available in the Administration Office beginning Thursday, February 23,2017. Members unable to come into the Administration Office may call and have an absentee ballot mailed to them. Absentee ballots must be returned no later than 4:00 p.m. March 15, 2017. Please note, residents who are unable to return their absentee ballot to the Administration Office may drop them in the white, locked payment box near the old ATM machine.

Under the Florida Residential Cooperative law (Chapter 719) an election for Boardmembers is not required when the number of vacancies on 'the Board equals the number ofcandidates. My name is Monte Moon and I am a candidatefor the Hawthorne Board of Directors.

I live at 104 Papaya Cove with my Wife Kay. Wehave been residents since October 3D, 2014.

Currently I am involved in Hawthorne as chairpersonofthe Dragon Boat Club. Deliver Meals on Wheels,also drive for Good Neighbors.Work with HTV98 as camera person, announcerand host. I enjoy playing Putt-Putt golf.

Locally active in the Leesburg Community as MembershipDirector of the St Paul Council Knights of Columbus andon the Pastoral Council of St Paul Catholic Community.

Prior to moving to Hawthorne I was President of our HOAfor 4 years and on the board for another 4 years.Chairperson of our church's Senior Activities and TripCommittee. With the Knights of Columbus I was StateChurch Direct for State of Georgia for four years and aDistrict Deputy for four years.

My business career was 27 years in the sales and leasing of officeequipment for Pitney Bowes, also spent two years as Manager ofManagement Development at their national training center.

Francotype-Postalia (competitor of PB) hired me after retiring from Pitney Bowes)retired from them after another ten years as National Sales Director. I',

My focus on the board will be to maintain the great things we have in Hawthorne with an eyetowards improvements, expansions. and changes where and when appropriate. Collaboration,communication and transparency with the residents is critical as well with management andthru management with the employees.

The only agenda is the betterment of Hawthorne for us now and those to follow.
