Chapter 1

, there lived a king with his wife, Who for a very long time desired, but could not bear a child. As much as they tried, barren still the queen,Whom now angered by this curse, became tempted to leaveAnd one night, this she did whilst the king lay asleep.

Chapter 2

Hurt by her absence, the king grew miserable and pale,He stood on his balcony each night waiting for herConsuming neither food nor ale.He never dared to leave his castleUntil he saw out in the garden below, a pretty enchantress named gale.

There she picked a rare flower he’d never seen before.He stood there each day and not once had he seen it grow.At once he sent for her so curious to know,More about this spiked, bluish-purple flower her garden beautifully bore.

Chapter 3She met with him of course, upon his request.“Enchantress,” he began, “do tell me about that rare flower you possess?”“It’s called Rampion your majesty,” she happily expressed.“What does it do my fair enchantress?” he asked againShe did not reply, but simply smiled and the two later became loving friends.

Chapter 4They made the flower into a salad and ate greedily with wine,Then disappeared into the night prancing and dancing like a youthful child.5 years went by and what a surprise, the king’s wife again stood before his eyes.He banished the enchantress who then threatened his lifeAnd told him he would never be happy, for she will be back for his first child.

Two years later, the kings wife gave birth to a beautiful baby girl.Rapunzel they named her, and true to her word, the enchantress returnedAnd vanished away with the kings little girl.

Chapter 4Lost in the forest, up in a tower, is where the enchantress raised the king’s daughterSealed away from the world, neither stair nor door,Just one little window at the top with a view of nature to adore. Here Rapunzel grew into a beautiful, young woman of 18Knowing nothing of men except what the enchantress told her.

Chapter 5The enchantress often left, now that Rapunzel had grown olderAnd when she came to visit her, she stood from below and said:

“Rapunzel, Rapunzel let down your long hair to me.”

Rapunzel’s hair so long and golden would escape through the window,And flow down like a river to the enchantress waiting below.

Week after week, this process they’d repeatAnd Rapunzel’s hair remained a glorious site to see,This, you certainly would not believe.

Chapter 6Three years since passed, Rapunzel remained aloneUntil a prince named Damian From the North Kingdom came around;Exploring the forest for a beautiful jewel.He instead found an exquisite voice singing a beautiful tune

And so he followed that tune where he found his new jewel inaccessible--Poised in the window like a painting on a pedestal.

Chapter 7He wanted to call out to her but knew not what to sayUntil he heard footsteps quickly coming his way.He leaped into the bushes and heard a new voice say:

“Rapunzel, Rapunzel let down your long hair to me!”

Beautifully her hair swam down to the enchantress And up she climbed and there she remained from dawn till sunset.

Chapter 8Very early the next day Prince Damian said the same:

“Rapunzel, Rapunzel let down your long hair to me!”

So this Rapunzel did and up came the prince.Breathless, fearful yet intrigued was Rapunzel by his presence since,She had never seen a man before.

Chapter 9“Prince Damian,” he presented, “You are Rapunzel?” he asked“Yes,” she replied, too curious and fearful to lie.Calmly sitting down,They then talked about their lives all through the nightWhere he introduced her to his world of Adventure, Sex and the like.

Fascinated by it all, she needed to experience more of his worldAnd so they both left, leaving nothing to the EnchantressBut a red stained quilt.

Chapter 10Off to the North Kingdom, they fled to be together.Prince Damian wed Rapunzel but they quickly endured stormy weatherAs Rapunzel’s thirst for knowledge grew past what the King could manageAnd she began to love many others.

Both men and Women alike,Rapunzel tried her hand at whatever she thought was right;Until her body went on strike,Struck ill by a disease no one could describe.

Chapter 11When King Damian came to see her, he knew that she was dying,Her hair even lost its glow of life but he lied and said

“Rapunzel, Rapunzel, your hair is still wonderful.”In a desperate attempt to save his mischievous wife,He set out to find the Enchantress, who would scold him but surely save her child.

Chapter 12In finding her he learned, Rapunzel was never truly hers,And the Enchantress refused to save her because she now was just like her father,A beautiful, heart-breaker.Damian begged…he pleaded and feeling sorry for him, the Enchantress concededTo the Kings request.

Chapter 13

Picking the same flower she once fed Rapunzel’s father,She gave it to the King, saying “My heart has grown softer,So I seek not your first daughter; but rather, your first son whom you’ll name Chaucer.”

Rapunzel, Rapunzel, this is who she is!
