Specializing in Hard Maple and BirchLocated in Munising, Michigan, on the southern shore of Lake Superior, our Michigan Division manufactures a full range of hardwood lumber and veneer from timber harvested in Michigan, Wisconsin, Vermont, New York and Canada.

The specifications of the hardwood logs destined for our Michigan veneer plant are extremely demanding and precise, typically the first or second segment taken from the tree.

We have also invested heavily in the technology necessary to manufacture our veneers with the greatest possible efficiency, for the widest number of applications. Our new splicing/pressing technology has redefined the possible applications for spliced veneer.

Currently, our Michigan Division produces about 300,000 msf of hardwood veneer annually. Most of this veneer is used by hardwood stock panel producers for high-quality faces and backs for cabinetry and furniture. Other applications include door skins, curved and cut-to-size applications, wall panels, counter fronts, flooring, edgebanding and acoustical instruments.
