Associate Professor Emerita of Art, Sister Marie Celeste Miller, O.P., will be discussing traditions in Dominican art, including the purpose of art in Dominican communities. Free and open to the public. There will be instructions at the door. Instructions provided. 1 - 2 p.m. St. Thomas Aquinas Patronal Mass St. Thomas the Apostle Church Most Rev. David J. Walkowiak, Bishop of the Diocese of Grand Rapids, will preside. The Aquinas Family gathers to celebrate our patron saint. At this Mass we will recognize the Grand Rapids Dominicans, retirees, as well as our colleagues who have served the College for 25 years: Judi Creamer, Mary Clark-Kaiser and Carol Winkle. The College Chorus, under the direction of Dr. Mark Webb, will be joining us. We invite faculty and staff to dress in academic garb for the academic procession.We invite 1-2 student representatives to process in with their club, team or organization banner. All employees are invited to attend this special Mass in celebration of our patron saint. All offices that are scheduled to be open during these times should be minimally staffed in order to allow as many employees as desire to attend. Donald Goergen, O.P., Ph.D. He is a preacher, lecturer, teacher and author. Fr. Goergen has written and taught primarily in the areas of Christology and Christian Spirituality in the United States as well as in Africa and Asia. His most recent writing is Fire of Love: Encountering the Holy Spirit.
