created in Japan by master craftsmen, carefully selected

with our customers in mind, and packaged to be proudly

displayed in the stores. The stamp images are Asian in

flavor, but artistic in nature. We hope you will be

encouraged to explore the beauty and depth of these

exquisite papers from Japan, and be inspired to create

your own heartfelt greeting in an infinite number of ways.

Washi Paper Quilting™ by Hanko Designs

Washi Paper Quilting is based on a traditional Japanese doll

making technique called kime-komi. Japanese kimono fabric is

used on the dolls, but we decided to incorporate Japanese washi

paper instead. The handmade, silk screened washi paper enables

us to adapt the kime-komi technique to create these unique three

dimensional cards.


1. Select pattern and create template.Photocopy and cut out shape. Use as template.Cut out chipboard and foam per template.

2. Mount foam and wrap paper. Adhere foam shape onto chipboard shape. Cut washipaper large enough to wrap around shape.Note: Foam should be sandwiched in the middle.

3. Arrange shapes and embellish. Mountshapes onto cardstock and embellish with yourfavorite trimmings.

This new washi paper quilting pattern book was created for the enthusiastic washi paper quilter.

It contains patterns for eight fun and inspirational cards.
