Redesign the risk assessment tool to:

•  Make it work well on devices of all sizes (responsive)

•  Add functionality that keeps visitors engaged over time, such as goal setting and tracking

Activity – 30 minutes

Brainstorm the “Users” portion of the project model canvas.

1.  Each team member quietly write 10 things they know about the potential users of the proposed product (one idea per stickie)

2.  As a group, cluster the stickies so you can see overlaps and distinctions.

3.  See if one or more types of users emerge.

4.  Add different colour stickies, or a warning symbol, to identify unknowns or gaps in your knowledge of your users.

Meet Samir. A retired 68 year old former smoker with high cholesterol. He is contemplating changing his lifestyle to reduce his risk of heart disease. Samir is fairly traditional and wants to maintain a sense of control in his life. He trusts his doctor’s advice and keeps asking his wife to cook more fruits and vegetables at home where he eats most meals.

Activity – 30 minutes

Draft a user journey map.

1.  Choose one target user and one goal

2.  Use stickies to map out the user journey to achieving that goal

3.  Use stickies (colour-coded, if possible) to identify what the user is thinking, feeling, and doing at each point in the journey

4.  Identify unknowns in a different colour marker or stickie.

Design considerations:

What devices / sizes are you designing for?

What level of accessibility is appropriate for your product?

How will information be collected, used, stored and protected?
