    GUIDELINES FOR PROJECT REPORT WRITING

    Any project report submitted to the institute for academic purpose as partial fulfillment of

    award of any degree must be formally presented. The report should be constituted and

    written as per the guidelines described below.

    The guidelines are strictly to be followed. Any deviation from the prescribed guideline

    will lead to award of negative marks or rejection of the report and the authors may be

    required to re-writing the whole / part of the project report.

    1. Cover

    2. Title Page

    Title page of the report should contain the following in chronological order:

    a. Title of the Projectb. Project Guidec. Author(s) submitted by

    (See Title Page Format)

    3. Certificate

    A certificate has to be furnished from the respective guide saying that the project was

    done under his/her supervision.

    4. Declaration

    Student(s) are required to declare that the work done is original and has not been

    published anywhere else.

    5. Acknowledgements

    Mention, diligently, the names of persons and organizations that have helped you in

    the production of the report.

    6. Table of Contents (with page numbers)

    To give the reader an overall view of the report and help him locate a particular topic

    or sub-topic easily. The page numbering for items 2 to 8 should be in Roman

    Numerals. The page numbering for items 9 to 20 should be in digits.

    7. Table of illustration, charts, etc.8. Executive Summary (or Synopsis)

    Represents the report in a nutshell without any illustrations or explanations. Here the

    aim is to enable the reader to gather information quickly without having to go through

    the whole report. It should be self-sufficient and intelligible.

    9. Chapter 1: Introduction

    Briefly introduce about the project work and the general environment.

    10. Chapter 2: Literature Survey

    A survey has to be carried out and presented in this chapter related to the project. The

    aim is to convey/show/narrate about the subject matter of the project and whether

    students of other institutes, academicians, and professionals have carried out similarresearch or study. If similar work has been carried out then explain how your work

    will be different. Support your write-up with footnotes and references. A list of

    reference must be added at the end of this chapter.

    11. Chapter 3: Research Methodology

    a. Study objectives or Learning Objectives

    b. Scope of the studyc. Methods of Data collection

    i. Sampling (sample design, sample size, sample unit, etc)ii. Data collection sources (Primary, secondary)

    d. Data analysis (tools viz.: statistical models, concepts, etc; SWOT, BCG

    Matrix, Porter Model, Five-Force Model, etc)

    e. Limitations

    12. Chapter 4: Industry Profile

    Briefly describe the nature and size of the industry. Also, describe to the possible

    extent major players, competition, recent developments and future prospects.

    13. Chapter 5: Company Profile

    Briefly describe the companys activities; historical developments, products, markets,

    technology, financial performance (at least of the last financial year).

    14. Chapter 6: Theoretical Aspects of the Study

    Brief description of the concepts used / studied in the projects (in reference to books,journals, etc)

    15. Chapter 7: Data Analysis & Interpretation

    With proper organization of tables and graphical presentations, analysis and

    interpretation must be made comprehensively.

    16. Chapter 8: Research Findings & Conclusions

    Main findings must be highlighted systematically. Conclusions must me made on themain findings and an overall conclusion of the entire work.

    17. Chapter 9: Suggestions & Recommendations

    18. Annexure

    Questionnaires (if any)

    Reference notes/ tables or figures from published sources.

    19. Bibliography

    Books, Journals, Magazines, Newspapers, websites, etc.(See Format for Bibliography)

    20. Glossary

    List of technical words used in the report and their explanation. If the number of such

    words is small, they can be explained in the footnotes.

    Note:

    For the Header/Footer It should start from first page of the first chapter. The Headermust have the Title and Chapter number. The Footer must have theInstitute name and

    Page number.
