• Toorganise/leadservicesonsuitableoccasionssuchas:FoundersDayService,EucharisticCelebrations,preparationsforRamadan,PassoverandSabbathprayers,RemembranceprayersandonthenewsofthedeathofamemberoftheGrouporfamilymember.

• Tohelptoarrangeprayersforafuneralandinconsultationwiththefamilyofthedeceased,theParishPriest,Vicar,Rabbi,ImamorotherSpiritual/ReligiousLeadertheproperpreparationsandprotocolsforaScoutfuneral.

• WiththeLeadersandCampChieftohelporganizeaprayerspaceoncampwhereindividualsmayhaveaquiettimeforprayerandmeditation.Thisspaceoughttobemulti-faithsoastosuitthedifferentdenominationsthatmaybeoncamp.

• WherepracticaltohelptoorganizeandseethatActsofWorshipandServicesareprovidedforthedifferentfaith/religiousbeliefswithintheGroup.

• Todevelop,withtheassistanceoftheCountySpiritual/ReligiousAdvisor/Chaplain,suitablematerialfordeliveryatGrouplevel.

• TogiveguidanceandadvicetotheGroupLeaderandtheProgrammeScouters.

Section.TheTeamLeadScouterisakeylinktotheYouthMembers

smallgrouprepresentativebodyandtotheGroupLeader.Themost

importantaspectofthisroleisthatyouunderstandthatyoudonot

havetodoallofthesetasksyourself.Youwillco-ordinateProgramme

ScoutersandYouthMemberstoensureahighquality,funandsafe

environmentfortheyoungpeopleontheirScoutingjourney.

KeepingintouchwiththeYouthMembersandthesmallgroup

representativebody(e.g.Watch/PatrolLeadersCouncil)toensure

highqualityprogramme

Ensuring:

• ProgrammeScoutersandYouthMembersworktogethertoensurethebestpossibleprogrammeisdeliveredtoYouthMembers;

• Thatalongterm(12month)programmeoutlineisinplace;

• Thatarollingshortterm(3monthly)programmeplanisinplace,availableandrunningtoschedule;

• Thatplanningmeetingsaretakingplace,withProgrammeScoutersandYouthMembersworkingtogether;and

• Thesmallgrouprepresentativebody(e.g.Watch/PatrolLeadersCouncil)isworking.

Wherenecessary:

• LiaisingwiththeGroupLeadertoensureProgrammeScoutersarerecognisedfortheirachievements.ThismayincludeScoutingIrelandAdultAwards.

• MeetingnewYouthMemberparent(s)/guardian(s)andexplaininghowtheProgrammeSectionworks,andhelpingthemtounderstandwhatparttheyneedtoplaytoensureahighquality,funandsafeenvironmentfortheyoungpeopleontheirScoutingjourney.

KeepingintouchwiththeScoutGroup

Ensuring:

• ThatProgrammeScoutershavestartedtheirWoodBadgeJourneyandhavemetthespecifiedtrainingrequirementbeforeworkingwithYouthMembers;seeScoutingIreland’sAdultTrainingStandards;

• YoukeepintouchwiththeGroupLeaderonhowtheProgrammeSectionisgoing;whatisworking,whatischallengingandwhatneedsimproving;seeInformationBooklet-WorkingTogetherfortheTeam(MutualAgreementandReview);

• ThatnewProgrammeScoutersarewelcomedandmentoredinbecomingaScoutfirstandScoutersecond,helpingthemtofindtheirroleintheProgrammeSection;seeInformationBooklet-WelcomingAdultstoScouting(Induction);

• YoukeepintouchwithandmotivateProgrammeScouters;seeInformationBooklet-SupportingAdultvolunteers(Mentoring);and

• ThatYouthMembersfromtheProgrammeSection(Scouts,VentureScouts&RoverScouts)arepresentatGroupCouncil.ThisshouldnotlimitGroupCouncilreceivingBeaverScoutsandCubScoutsforProgrammeSectionupdates.

Wherenecessary:

• SupportingtheScoutGroupinrecruitingnewsuitableadultstobecomeProgrammeScouters;

• MaintainingtheProgrammeSectionwaitinglistwhereappropriateordirectenquiriestotherelevantpersonwithintheScoutGroup.

Ensuring:

• ThesafetyandwellbeingofYouthMembersandProgrammeScoutersforallactivities;

• Yougetthenumbersright!EnsurethattherearesufficientProgrammeScouterstocoverScoutingactivities;

• TheinvolvementofanyadultsthatarenotScoutersisappropriatelymanagedinlightofSID36.05(PolicyfortheInvolvementofNon-MemberAdultsonScoutingActivities);

• TocompleteandmaintainacompleterecordonallScoutertrainingrequired/undertakenwithintheScoutGroup.Theserecordsshouldbekeptuptodateandauditedatleastannually.Non-WoodbadgetrainingshouldbeconsideredaspartoftheTrainingAudit.

• ToensurethetrainingneedsoftheindividualScouterareconstantlyunderreviewtherebyfurtherensuringthattheneedsoftheScoutGroupandtheScouteraremet.

• TodeviseastructuredGroupTrainingPlanannually.

• ToadviseScoutersonavailabletrainingandensureenoughnoticeisgivenofforthcomingtrainingcourses.
