Instrument specifications


1.0 SUMMARY:

From November 19 to 24, 2002, a program of linecutting and geophysical

surveying was carried out on the Montcalm-Strachan Twp. property on behalf of

Falconbridge Ltd., of P.O. Bag 2002, 571 Hwy. 655 North, Timmins. Ontario

P4N 7W7. The objective of the work was to test the area of interest using

magnetic and electromagnetic methods with the goal of identifying drill targets.

The work was done by Gilbert Lamothe and Denis Bergeron of

G.L. Gcoscrvice Inc. ,C.P. 2506 Rouyn-Noranda, P.Q. J9X 5B1. Gilbert

Lamothe was the field supervisor and David Laronde reported on the work.

A total of 5.325 km of line was cut and surveyed with magnetometer while

4.125 km was surveyed with HLLM.

2.0 PROPERTY:

The property is found on the common boundary of Montcalm and Strachan

Townships from mileage marker 3 to 4. The 288 hectare property consists of

two contiguous claims numbered 3010807 (16 units) and 1200538 (2 units). All

the work was done on claim 3010807.

3.0 LOCATION AND ACCESS:

The property is located 60 km WNW of Timmins as the crow Hies. The

property is road accessible from Timmins by taking Hwy 101 westward for a

distance of about 70 km. At this point turn north for 40 km and continue to

the claims by primary and secondary logging roads. Porcupine Mining Division

4.0 MAGNETOMETER SURVEY:

4.1 Instrumentation; Gem Systems GSM-19 overhauser magnetometers were

used for the survey in mobile and base station mode. These units have an

accuracy of +J- l/l 00th of a gamma. There was a total of 5.325 km surveyed

(1065 readings) at 5 meter intervals.

4.1 Survey Results: The results are presented in contour format on plans at

1:5(XX) scale. Quality control was monitored by surveying the baseline and then

comparing the readings at the same station when the cross lines were surveyed.

This cross-referencing technique confirms good data and checked out well on

these surveys.

5.0 HLEM SURVEY:

5.1___Instrumentation: An Apex Maxmin II unit (ser. no. 1166) was

used for the hori/onlal loop EM survey. Three frequencies were read, 222, 444,

and 1,777 H/, measuring the in-phase and quadrature components of the

secondary field. The coil spacing was 150 meters throughout the surveys and

stations were read at 25 meters intervals. There was a total of 4.125 km (165

readings for each frequency) surveyed at 25 meter intervals.

5.2___Survey Results: The results of the survey are presented in profile

format for each frequency on plans at 1:5000 scale.

6.0 RESULTS AND INTERPRETATION:•4,

Magnetic survey: There are three prominent magnetic highs situated in the

central section of the grid that more or less trend east-west. These range in

intensity from l (XX) to 2(XX) nT above background values. The more southerly

high is circular with a l (X) meter diameter. Both the northern and southern

perimeter areas show diminished values near background.

HLEM survey: A narrow conductor (less than 10 meters wide) can be

seen on L 200 and 300 E at 150 S. This is a weak anomaly that has only a

marginal in-phase response on the 1777 H/, channel. The balance of the

survey indicates some seemingly insignificant overburden responses in the out-of-

phase parameter.

7.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS:

The surveys have outlined an area with both a magnetic and electromagnetic

response. The magnetic response south of the baseline is interesting in that the

si/e and shape is similar to some kimberlite pipes. Also interesting is the

presence of major structure creating a conduit for possible kimberlite. The

magnetic highs to the north of the baseline appear to indicate a mafic intrusive.

A weak HI .KM conductor, which appears to not have magnetic association, is

found on two lines and could be cut off by a fault at the east end.

Further work should include an expansion of the grid to the west to cover more

of the conductor and the magnetic responses that are only partially covered.
