GROC Recognition In The Community Proclamation From County Legislature:
Dan Quatro and Debbie Drawe authored the proclamation recognizing GROC for our volunteer efforts and contributions to our parks
Outstanding Asset Builder Award:GROC Honored by Department of Human Services – Award was accepted on Oct 1st. GROC nominated for this award by Mike Cooper the Penfield's Director of Parks and Recreation. The Asset Builder Award recognizes those who donate their time in an effort to encourage our youth in leading positive healthy lives

• Bike Shop Involvement– Local Bike Shops offering discounts for GROC members– Local shops also supporting Single Track Academy with sponsorships
• Donations and Support– These groups have donated over $4,500 dollars over the last 3 years. The donations have been
presented to GROC for its Outstanding Mountain Bike Advocacy in the region.

Projects Done By GROC Volunteers Bay Park West• Trail Design / Signage
– Trails were laid out and designed by GROC along with Monroe County Parks Department
– GROC provided Trail Map coding and layout– Mobile Map application developed by GROC given free to public
• Benching– All sections of trail that required benching– In Bay Park West there is significant elevation and benching was
required on every trail.
• Trail Entrance Fish and Game– Major retaining wall done to create sustainable switch back for main
trail entrance– Mitigation of lower muddy areas using raised crusher stone paths
• Trail Entrance Orchard Park Blvd– Design and benching of main entrance off parking lot– Installation of 6x6 wit 4ft rebar to secure edges of main trail entrance

• Bridges–Design and building of 6 bridges within the park
• 4 bridges off home wood Trail Entrance• Large Bridge on Green trail over ravine• Large Bridge on Green to connect to old trolley

Projects Done By GROC Volunteers Tryon Park• Trail Design / Signage
– Existing trails were marked and mitigation an re-routing of unsustainable trails was done
– New trails were designed and built to take offline old unsustainable trails
– All Blazes and signage was donated and put up by GROC– Trail Map coding and layout
• Trail Entrance Tryon Road– New trails established to enter park– Established new substitutable trail from top of Tyron to
the bottom as part of training with IMBA Trail Crew (International Mountain Bike Patrol)
• Bridges– Design and building of 3 bridges within the park
• Armoring wet areas in several location– GROC supplied all materials and labor
• Clean up – Tryon Park was used used for years and gathered allot of
trash – GROC volunteers cleaned up the park and removed

GROC Sponsored IMBA Trail Crew
2012 Subaru IMBA Trail Crew join us in Rochester for 3 days of Training and presentations on Sustainable Trail Building.
Land Managers from Monroe County Parks, Victor Parks, Penfield, and other local trail clubs attended training with the IMBA Crew
The hands on project portion of training was done in Tryon Park. This created a new sustainable trail from the top of Tryon parking area to the bottom, taking off-line a fall line trail that is dangerous and continually eroding.,

Accomplishments in 2014•Improvements to the path in the field above the parking lot; more grade reversals to deflect water•Build up of humps in pump track•New kiosk at parking lot with glass doors, cork board backing and wipe board•New kiosk with cork board in upper field•New grade reversals, deberming and general trail repair on Bones, Bone a Part and•iPod.•Major repairs and new grade reversals and nicks on Moon Valley•Multiple layered grade reversals on VHT and widening for parking/viewing area at top of VHT•Extension of Tree Beard through woods to VHT•Improvements at the other end of Tree Beard (near the entry to Bone-A-Part) cleaned up a nasty, rooty chicane around two large trees, avoiding the need of a significant rerouting.•New, short trail, Kat’s Cut•Reroute, repairs and new grade reversals on Owl’s Maze•Major reroute of upper half of Pinball: flagged further reroutes of the bottom half. Plan to complete all improvements this season•Start of planning and construction of a new trail, Moonshot•Improved signage marking all trails; over 30 new signs added
•700+ hours of volunteer work– Many dedicated volunteers who have come to several work parties and even done work on their own– A lot of new volunteers- Several volunteers are now ready and willing to plan and lead projects- We partnered with two user groups. A group of Boy Scouts helped build trails and– the girls’ soccer team from Victor HS, for their community service, worked on leaf– removal
