• 28% of the storage requested was avoided by asking for further justification or suggesting a lower amount of storage which equates to 138 TB ($1.4M) avoided due to implementation of this process
• 129TB ($1.3M) was repurposed back into the environment for period Aug ’08 to Mar ’09
• New storage request process requires customers to provide solid justification for the amount of storage requested, a review of current usage in the environment, and monthly usage and request tracking by customer / business unit / application

• Data Centre – newly commissioned in 2007:– using APC InfrastruXure architecture – which
was 25% more energy efficient than our old “forced air” rooms
• Hardware: – Energy-related benchmarks now form part of
our purchasing decision

underutilised equipment by consolidating servers
