“A Doctor’s Confession to the City of New Castle…”And why, despite all, I still do what I do…
Dear friend, Let me start by explaining thephoto in this letter. You know, when I meetpeople in town they usually say, “Oh, yeah, I know you, you’re Dr. Jeremy. I’ve seen your ad with that picture of you and the cute littletoddler.” Well, I’m the guy on the left. Years ago something happened to me thatchanged my life forever. Here’s my story.Back then I was a rough and tough jock playingany sport that involved running, jumping, orthrowing myself into things. Until one daywhen I was playing basketball an was hitwith an elbow to my jaw. This started a con-dition called TMJ disorder. It started firstwith severe jaw pain so intense that I could-n’t chew food. It progressed later on into fullblown Migraine headaches. I could barelyget out of bed in the morning. The doctorhad no treatment options but to give me painmedicine. I just about gave up on ever havinga regular pain free day. But, there’s more…A friend of mine convinced me to leave my family doctor and give her doctor a try. This new doctor did an exam, took some x-rays,and then “adjusted” my spine and jaw. Thisadjustment didn’t hurt, it actually felt good. I got relief, and could chew food again!I haven’t had migraines ever since either.Oh, did I mention this doctor is a chiropractor?It worked so well for me, and I was so impressedwith the other miracles’ I saw in his office, thatI changed my mind about medical school andeventually headed off to chiropractic college.Now for Grace, who is the little girl in thephoto.
