Graphic Narrative – Folktales The well of the World’s End Summary – the story focus on a young girl who’s mother has died and is now tormented by her stepmother who is jealous of her beauty, the step mother sets her a task of going to the well of the worlds end and bring back some water in a sieve as she thinks this is impossible. The girl goes, discovers a talking frogs who tells her how to carry the water back but she has to promise to do whatever the frog bid of her for a whole night long. She agrees and later that night the frog comes to her house, she does what he bids as forced to by her stepmother and in the end the frog bids her to cut off his head, hesitantly at first she doesn’t want to but once she does the frog changes to a prince and he tells her he was cursed to being until a girl did what ever he bid for a whole night. Characters The story features 3 characters, the main girl, the evil stepmother and the frog/prince. This will be easy for me to illustrate, as there is little characters. Location The first location will be the home of the girl and her stepmother; she then travels into town looking for the well of the worlds end and finally the well its self. There is only 3 main locations to this story making illustration easier for me later on. Audience The story is suitable for a young audience, the main character is a girl so could appeal to a young female audience rather then a male, however with this story I will aim to meet a young audience of both male and female. Style Visually for this story I plan to create a cartoon style story with suitable illustrations

The well of the World’s EndSummary – the story focus on a young girl who’s mother has died and is now tormented by her stepmother who is jealous of her beauty, the step mother sets her a task of going to the well of the worlds end and bring back some water in a sieve as she thinks this is impossible.

CharactersThe story features 3 characters, the main girl, the evil stepmother and the frog/prince. This will be easy for me to illustrate, as there is little characters. LocationThe first location will be the home of the girl and her stepmother; she then travels into town looking for the well of the worlds end and finally the well its self. There is only 3 main locations to this story making illustration easier for me later on. Audience The story is suitable for a young audience, the main character is a girl so could appeal to a young female audience rather then a male, however with this story I will aim to meet a young audience of both male and female. StyleVisually for this story I plan to create a cartoon style story with suitable illustrations for a young audience, the characters and location will be effectively portrayed in cartoon style.Adaptation This story can easily be adapted in a number of different ways, my first idea would be to set it in modern time, with a young girl living in modern day London. The frog is instead a rat and the well of the worlds end is instead a Mc Donald’s where she must use a refillable cup with holes in the bottom.

I could also change the setting to the future, the setting being space and the frog being an alien frog with multiple eyes, the well is instead space gunk and instead of a sieve she must use a bottomless bucket.
