This project was a precedent study on Zaha Hadid, and the chosen building was her famous Vitra Fire Station in Germany. The project was divided into three iteration, where we first use cardboard to model out the form of the building, then use millboard to refine the form to add more details on the structure. Lastly we use 3D modeling to model out the building with exact dimension and knowledge of the layout and the form of the building from previous iteration. Through this project, the most important takeaway from this building was its overlaying planes that created multiple layers through vertical space despites its narrow form in horizontal space.

RENOVATIONurban space usage redesign
This project was a renovation of Belltown in the west of Downtown Seattle. This project was assigned during the Seattle urban design charrette. This project was inspired to reuse urban space where it could again gather community together. The challenge was to create a pavilion through the combination of tilted landscape and the highway viaduct as basic formation of our project. And my paying attention to the local resident, this project was set on presenting a new market area that will draw people into the area where it also promotes green and flourish atmosphere of the area.

GASTOWNRENOVATIONdesigner studio + showroom
This project was a renovation of the Gastown in the Downtown of Vancouver. This project was assigned as a final project of the semester. And the objective of this project was to create a unify space of two separate designers, one for showroom, another one for office. The challenge of this project was the constrained space in the lower part of the site, where it would be difficult to create a design using horizontal space. The solution was to apply multiple layers into the space that uses vertical space as a key to direct flow through this narrow space. The office was also designed to have flow of space in mind where it was semi-divided yet does not cut the flow in the area.

Refraction
This project was a study on the materials through creating a lamp with any material we want. The material chosen for this lamp was metal and magnifying glasses that focuses light and reflect light off the surface of the metal that act as diffusors. The iteration of design was first done on paper, then move onto 3D modeling using SolidWorks. Its fabrication was done within a week time, and it was great success in which we hope to find a ways to direct light using materials instead of the traditional light bulb lamp. The lamp was also capable of retract through its multiple layer neck pieces and it would be convenient to carry around.

Gfabrication + representation: kinetic sculpture
This project was a kinetic sculpture that use visual representation to monitor and display information such as temperature and energy usage. The objective of this project was to move away from digital display and use physical representation to combine the form an artwork into an information display. This kinetic sculpture function as a temperature monitor where it takes measure of the outside and inside temperature, and use comparison to give suggestion for users on whether to save energy consumption in the form of a melting or forming ice, thus the name suggested an iceberg in the form of a crystal.

FILM CONTAINERthinking beyond: material appropriation
This project was a study on multipurpose of item that we use every day. It inspired us to think outside of the box of the constraints of the item, whether it is the form, function, or material. Through this project, we turn a simple film container into many other items that has completely different usage. And through the play on the form and its material, we found that film container could be turn into an excellent light diffusor because of its transparent material, such light diffusor could be used on camera or flashlight. Besides light diffusor, the container due to its relatively small size, it could also act as table spice container such as for salt and pepper.

This project was a study on using circuit component as aesthetic elements on to fashion a piece of jewelry. For this project, we has chosen to use LEDs, resistors and wires as a component of the necklace, and a speaker as a pendant. The objective of this project was to break through the barrier of electronic component must be conceal within, instead it would be showed outside to form artistic appearances. Not only has this piece of jewelry taken on the aesthetic side of the materials, but also the function as well. This necklace can act as a speaker suck that the miniature circuit that forms the necklace allow the user to connect the necklace to an mp3 player, so the necklace will act as a mobile speaker.

CODE BLUEdesign for death: design noir
This project was a design noir that focuses on design for the death, or reminding people of the concept of death. This project act as an alarm clock that sound like a heart monitor. People will need to interact with the object to keep the alarm clock beeping or its beep will flat out. The noir of this design is, its beep will annoy the users, but the flatting beep would annoy them more. This project also has a hint of death because of its heart monitoring sound that reminds people that the heart is always beating and people should interact with it to keep it going. This project was done through using Arduino circuit board.

This project was design to use cheap material to generate a better use product for the developing country. In our studies we found that safe water was a critical issue, so our project was aimed to use natural element such as the sun light or ultraviolet light to clean the water. This was it would be deploy in the developing country because the method was cost eective for developing country, and its material is also cheap so it will be more accessible for them. The challenge of this project was the experiment as we need to imply our results from testing in developed nation on the usage of our product on developing nation.

This project was design to be used on the platform of iPhone and iPad. Its objective was to create an interactive application to help users to navigate through the Downtown of Vancouver in order to fine designated restaurants. This application not only has a search function to search for specific restaurants, a browse function was also imbued to help users search for a type of restaurant instead of a specific restaurant. It also provides direction and instructions on how to reach the restaurant with a map system encoded using Google Map, as well as time calculations on different method of transport. The challenge for this project was to imbue a lot of different restaurant which was time consuming.

ULTIMATE APPThis project was design for ultimate frisbee enthusiast, therefore we had select a local ultimate frisbee team to tailor our application to their needs. The objective of this project was to understand the needs and wants of the users and tailor specific aspects using user friendly interfaces. In this application we provided basic tools such as stopwatches and score trackers to enhance their game play. As well as social tools imbued into the interface to enhance their social aspect of the team such as sharing information and moments through Facebook and Twitters. Therefore this application act as not only a tool but also a method on bonding with people inside and outside of the team.

iFLOWERdesign tangible interface
This project was design to create an interactive installation to convey the message of planting trees to save the planet. The technicality behind this project was simple, as using tin foil inside the flowerpot to connect and disconnect the circuit to simulate mouse click to trigger the animation. The object was through interacting with the installation, users could understand the meaning behind medium as interaction with the plant and its consequences. Therefore, this project also act as a medium to transmit the idea of consequences of individual actions, and how these actions effect the environment around.

This project was design to recreate the meaning of a movie through a specific character and scenario. Our target was the Joker in The Black Knight, as we wanted to simulate his chaotic characteristic through the change of from normal to chaos. The project was created through using camera to capture video feeds and manipulate the images through computing programming. The manipulation also imbued chronological elements into the results such that it divided the changes into phases. Such will allow the users to experience their change gradually through visual and sound effects, thus could grasp a better understanding of the inner characteristic of the character the Joker.

WACK-A-MOLEgame recreation: sensory response + human interaction
This project was design to simulate a competitive environment for user to interact with the game. The game chosen was the classical Wack-A-Mole, which could actively engage users through human interaction. The objective of this project was to study and understand sensor technology and how it relates to human interaction. And it was also aimed to use different method of interaction instead of a mouse as it is hoped to move away from the reliance of a mouse to interact with the cyber world. This is an important study on understanding the relation between cyber and real world as it brings the cyber world closer to the real world through using real world responses and actions to interact with elements only exist in the cyber world.

ASTEROIDS
This project was design to simulate the motion dynamics of computing imagery and how its effect could relate to human action and experience. Another aspect of this project was to understand and simulate object collision through computing programming. Through recreating the classic game Asteroids and adding special elements that could enhance the understanding of object collision and motion dynamics, it is important to note real world physics when applied on computing media could enhance the experience as it feels more related to the real world as it brings the cyber space and the physical space together.
