    GRADUATION RATES OF SOUTH HAMPTON ROADS SCHOOLShe percentage of Virginia students graduating within four years is climbing slowly, according to statistics released byhe Virginia Department of Education. In Norfolk and Portsmouth, graduation rates for the Class of 2010 were more than0 percentage points below the states number of 85.5 percent. Only Chesapeake exceeded Virginias rate.

    ortsmouth has the third-highest dropout rate in the state, with one in five students entering ninth grade for therst time in 2006 dropping out of school within four years. The states rate for all students was 8.2 percent.
