You may focus on the ff: What is the day all about? You may cite Bible stories to explain more about it/ or related to it. How do we celebrate the event? What Catholic Filipino tradition do we observe during this day? How should Christians live the message of that event?

Short Sharing: yHow will you describe an ideal family? yWhat are some of the things that prevent a family from living a harmonious life?

From the beginning, God blessed the union of man and woman to beget children and to help and to love each other.

CHILDREN AS GODS GIFTS

Children are the supreme gift of marriage. They are blessings by God, source of joy to the parents and cause of growth for the married couple.

Parenthood is big responsibility that God has given the married couples.

The married couple builds a Christian family. They are to become good examples to their children. They are the first teachers.

It is in the Christian family that children begin to: Learn about Jesus. Obey their parents. Love and serve others Become disciples of Christ and members of the Church.

The Christian Family

The family is the first school of Christian life. It is a little Church whose vocation is to lead all to Christ.

Building a loving and holy family is a responsibility of the father and of the mother and of the children. Each member helps in making the family a community of love and unity. (Ephesians 6:1-3)

St. Paul in Colossians 3:18-21, speaks of an ideal family. It is one that has unity, one that has respect of the other person.

Our Model is the Holy Family of Nazareth

SIMILARITIES OF THE CHURCH AND THE FAMILY

1. Both are communities united together in love through the power of the Holy Spirit. 2. Members of both are called to constant growth in loving communion with one another and with Christ. 3. Both worship around the Table of the Lord, sharing in the Eucharistic Celebration of Christ.

4. Both share in the mission of Christ loving service, responding to human needs and promoting the Kingdom of God among men.

Because of the above similarities, we can say that the family is the domestic Church.

We Respond. How can you become a loving member of your family?
