ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

We are thankful to our Director as well as our Principal, Dr. H. M. Nimbark,

Head of the Department Prof. K. B. Khiraiya and our class coordinator Prof. Tejas

A Bhatt who have given us a great guidance regarding industrial visit as a part of

bridge course academic year 2017-18 odd.

We are especially thankful to Mr. Ketan Mehta of G. P. Mangalani Foods

Pvt. Ltd. for giving the permission to take visit and also thankful to their assistant

engineers to provide proper guidance, practical based learning and technical

knowledge to the students.

GENERAL INFORMATION

G.P. Mangalani foods Pvt. Ltd. is one of the unit of PARLE GROUP. It is

situated at Tagdi town, Budhel road, Bhavnagar. Parle group makes total 36 food

products like biscuit, chocolate, peppermint, wafers etc. out of that Mangalani

unit is manufacturing 4 products i.e. Kismi Bar, Kismi Toffee, Mango Bite and

Orange Bite.

PURPOSE OF VISIT

Our main purpose of this visit is to familiarize the students of 1st semester to

identify the problems of village people, their basic needs, scope of improvement

of their living standard, industrial environment and to get practical knowledge of

mechanical engineering field. Students would know about various types of

machineries, departments of industry, quality aspects of the product, inspection

criteria, safety rules, production process, marketing aspects etc. of the industries.

They would also know about how small scale industry can run.

WHAT WE LEARNT?

Key Points:-

1. Establishment of Parle Group:

They have shown us a cartoon movie which is related to establishment of the

Parle group as well as the vision of Parle group and also various manufacturing

process to make biscuits and chocolates.

2. Boiler:

Boiler is used to generate steam which is used in process to cook raw material for

the product.

3. Automatic chocolate cutting machine

This machine is used to cut long chocolate bar into the desired small shape

3. Automatic wrapping machine

This machine is used to wrap the toffee bar in plastic paper. It wraps 1 toffee bar

in 1 second.

4. Conveyer system

Conveyer system is used to transport raw material and process material from one

place to another place automatically.

CONCLUSION

Through this visit, students gained information and practical knowledge about

various manufacturing process of the different products. They also become

aware about safety procedure to be followed during the manufacturing process.

They got the knowledge about various personal protective equipments and its

use. They also got aware about difficulties faced during the manufacturing

process and how to solve it. They were also known about how to get more

productivity with the available resources. Students also aware about the various

problem faced by the village people. About 60 students benefitted from this visit

as they got chance to discuss with assistant engineers working at the unit.
