1. STOP TRACKING INTERNAL TRAFFIC

▪ One of the first steps you should take is to make sure that you are not

tracking internal traffic from yourself and your coworkers.

▪ This can be easily adjusted under the Admin Panel in Google Analytics.

▪ Once under the Admin Panel go to > All Filters >Add a New Filter

▪ Now you will add a predefined filter to exclude traffic from your company’s IP

Address.

Step1: Click the Admin Tab on the top of the

Dashboard.

Step 2: Click the All Filters tab.

Step 3: Name to Your Filter.

Step 4: choose the applicable

drop down options and add your IP Address.

Step 5: choose the website you want to apply the filter to.

2. HOW TO SET UP GOALS ▪ Setting up Goals is one of the simplest tools to use in Google Analytics and one of

the most important.

▪ To set up Goals, go to your Admin Settings > Goals > New Goal to set up your new goal.

▪ You will see that Google Analytics provides many templates for tracking Conversion Goals making it easy to get started.

▪ Once your Goal is set up you will see this Goal reflected in most of your Google Analytics Reporting.

HOW TO SET UP GOALS

Step 1: Go to your Admin Settings.

Step 2: Click the Goals Tab.

The next screen will ask a few questions based on the type of Goal you chose. Simply follow

the prompts.

Step 3: Name your Goal.

Step 4: Select the type of Goal. In this case the Goal

Type is an Event.

3. HOW TO SET UP CUSTOM ALERTS ▪ Custom Alerts makes it so you don’t have to check Google Analytics every day to

find important changes in your data.

▪ After setting up Custom Alerts, Google Analytics will notify you via email or text message whenever there are specific changes in your data.

▪ To set up Custom Alerts go to your Admin Settings > Custom Alerts > Create a New Alert.

▪ Here you will be able to customize your alert to apply to all of your traffic or just a segment of your traffic. You will also be able to select when the alert goes off and why. For example, if a certain metric increases or decreases dramatically.

HOW TO SET UP CUSTOM ALERTS

Step 1: Go to the Admin Tab.

Step 2: Click on Custom Alerts.

Step 4: Select the alert conditions from the drop

down menus and click Save Alert .

Step 3: Name your Alert and select the period of time the alert should track.

4. HOW TO USE BEHAVIOR FLOW REPORTS

▪ At first glance, the Behavior Flow Reports may seem complicated, but they can be very easy to use with a little explanation.

▪ This report is a great way to know when you need to improve a page on your site. This is because you can see if users are coming to a specific page and immediately leaving afterwards.

▪ To access the Behavior Flow Reports go to the Behavior tab >Behavior Flow.

▪ You can also use the drop down menus in the reports to highlight specific types of data.

Step1: Go to the behavior tab in the left side bar.

Step 2: Click on the behavior flow tab.

If you hover over the sections in red it will let you know how many drop offs you have for each page.

You can choose the type of behavior flow report here. You can also see the number of total sessions and drop offs.
