After a long and cold winter, the sprouting of spring bulbs and blossom can only mean one thing – the domestic golfing season will soon be in full swing.

But if you are fed up with your golf clubs gathering dust because of snowbound or waterlogged courses, don’t despair. There’s a world of golf just waiting to be played, at any time of the year.

So let us give you some golfing getaway suggestions with this, Golf World’s annual Golf Escapes guide. Near or far, you’ll find plenty of ideas for golf-based holidays within its 116 pages.

We begin with a focus on Marriott Golf, a collection of 17 superb golf resorts across the UK and Europe where a family golf break won’t break the bank, thanks to Marriott’s Kids Golf-4-Free programme. We then catch the ferry to look at a couple of Irish gems.

Egypt is our next port of call, travelling through the land of the pharaohs from the White Med coast along the Nile to the Red

Sea Riviera, seeking out its wonderful fairways. The Mediterranean beckons again, this time

Spain’s sunny Balearic Islands. We take a detailed look at Majorca, the Med’s biggest golf island, and its siblings, Minorca and Ibiza.

Our Asian swing takes in the top-quality courses of Malaysia and Thailand, followed by a tour of the United Arab Emirates for a focus on Abu Dhabi’s amazing golf and tourism developments as well as the golf offerings of established neighbour Dubai.

Crossing the Atlantic, we suggest some fly-drive tours around Alabama with great-value golf including its Robert Trent Jones Trail. South America’s golf capital, Argentina, and the Caribbean’s Dominican Republic are next, both offering golf with a Latin twist, then Jamaica for tropical golf with a reggae flavour.

Back in Europe, we spotlight Bulgaria’s developing Cape Kaliakra region, twin-centre golf breaks in the Czech Republic combining Prague and West Bohemia, and the golfing feast served up by Emilia Romagna and the rest of Italy.
